Meghan McCain received a surprise of a lifetime! The now-former talk show co-host received a surprise message from one of her most famous supporters during her final episode on ABC’s The View on Friday (August 6th).
“It wouldn’t be a proper send off for @MeghanMcCain without a surprise message from former House Speaker @PRyan!” The View team posted on Twitter.
The former speaker shared his excitement for McCain’s four years on The View by stating, “You have stood up for your principles. You’ve spoken your mind, and you’ve passionately defended what you believed in.”
McCain announced her plans to depart from The View on July 1st. She cited during her explanation of why she was leaving the show was that the almost year and a half long COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way she was looking at life. She wants to live in DC and raise her almost 1-year-old, Liberty in the National’s Capital instead of New York City, where the show is taped.
McCain Talks About Her Departure From ‘The View’
During her final episode on The View, McCain reflected on her time as the talk show’s co-host.
“Thank you all so much again for the privilege and honor it has been for the last four years to work on this show. It really has been incredible.”
McCain then turns her attention to the other The View co-host by stating all the women have been so incredible to work through the years. “The crew, the producers, everyone worked so hard, and honestly the audience giving me four years to give my opinion and show my perspective.”
McCain also describes her time on The View as a really wild ride.
“It’s been, honestly, the best of times in all ways, on and off the show. And it’s been a really incredible, liberating experience. I will always cherish the time I spent with all of you. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
McCain’s mom, Cindy McCain also commented on her daughter’s departure from the talk show. “Her dad [John McCain] would be so proud of her. I wish her the best in whatever endeavor she chooses to do.”
What’s Next For McCain After Leaving ‘The View’
Following her departure from The View, McCain will be producing the Lifetime movie Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff: The Kristine Carlson Story. The upcoming movie will star Heather Locklear, Jason MacDonald, and Emily Rose.
The upcoming movie is reportedly inspired by the true story of Kristine Carlson, the co-author of the best-selling book series Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff. The series follows Carlson as she handles the loss of the unexpected/sudden loss of her husband, Dr. Richard Carlson.
At the time of the announcement, McCain took to Twitter and wrote, “I am beyond excited and honored to be partnering with @lifetimetv and @Kristincarlson to executive product the legendary ‘Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff’ book into a Lifetime film.”
