After a full season of blind auditions, stressful decisions, live performances, and the overall power of America’s votes, Team Blake Shelton is left with two contestants for the finale of “The Voice.”
Next week on Monday and Tuesday, “The Voice” is wrapping up season 20 of the show. Monday’s finale starts at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
The Finalists of ‘The Voice’
Blake Shelton recently posted a photo alongside his two finalists, Cam Anthony and Jordan Matthew Young. As the only coach with two artists left, Shelton has a slight edge going into the finale next week.
Each coach is going into the finale with an artist, however. Team John Legend has Victor Solomon. He got through with his rendition of the song “I Can Only Imagine” by Tamela Mann. Then Team Kelly Clarkson is pursuing the glory with Kenzi Wheeler. She performed her version of “He Stopped Loving Her Today” by George Jones.
Team Nick Jonas is left with Rachel Mac. She performed “Human” by Christina Perri.
As for Team Shelton, Cam Anthony gave his all with a Boyz II Men “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.”
Last night’s episode of the show was filled with drama. “The Voice” had to go from nine talented performers to five in just one episode. When it was time for the final position to be filled, Pia Renee, Gihanna Zoë, Corey Ward, Dana Monique, and Jordan Matthew Young all had to face off for the last instant save. It was Young and Team Blake that would come out victorious during the instant save. As a result, however, “The Voice” was forced to say goodbye to four other powerhouse vocalists.
Nick Jonas revealed on “The Voice” semifinals that he had taken a spill on his bike and was left with some minor injuries. One of which was some cracked ribs. He said he may not be “as physically enthusiastic” during the show.
Blake Shelton has already had seven victories as a coach on the show. He is also the last original “The Voice” judge left.
What Do Winners of the Show Get?
There have been 20 seasons and a seemingly countless number of talented contestants step foot on “The Voice” stage. However, what is it exactly winners get to leave with once they come out victorious?
The one constant is winning a $100,000 cash prize as well as “The Voice” trophy. Something that has changed over the years is the recording contract. For example, last year’s winner, Todd Tilghman, received a recording contract with Universal Music Group. Meanwhile, other artists have been signed with Big Machine Label Group in the past.
The reality is that record deals are not always a path to fame, fortune, and popularity. Many winners of the show have had little success after walking off the stage. Artists can also get money from future hits or other endeavors. The coaches of the show often keep the artist under their wing. For example, Kelly Clarkson brought along her champion, Brynn Cartelli, for the “Meaning of Life” tour with Kelsea Ballerini.
Pretty soon another artist will find out what it’s like to win “The Voice.”
