Blake Shelton on the New ‘The Voice’ Coach

Blake Shelton teased that the new coach Ariana Grande is a force to be reckoned with. Could she win this season?

“She is a tiny human being, but she is a fierce competitor,” he told Sirius XM host Storme Warren in an interview.

Additionally, Shelton has been looking for stiff competition and said that “she’s a blast” to work with.

“She was super competitive in the blinds to the point where she was really funny,” he added. “I guess I just didn’t know what to expect from her, but I didn’t expect her to just come out swinging like she did.”

“She’s been a fan of the show for a long time and she knew the process,” Shelton revealed. “A lot of the times, a new coach comes in and we kind of have to walk them through. ‘Okay, here’s what this part of the show is and here’s how it works. There’s a steal, there’s a save, don’t be afraid to say this.’”

However, Grande came in ready to play and knew all of the rules.

Nick Jonas’ Departure

Nick Jonas will be taking leave from the show this season. He and his brothers will be on the Jonas Brothers Remember This Tour alongside former The Voice advisor Kelsea Ballerini. Jonas previously appeared on both Season 18 and Season 20 of the show. The rotating cast is always keeping fans guessing. But Jonas had nothing but positive things to say about his replacement.

“I mean Ariana – as we all know – is one of the best singers in the game and she’s gonna be an incredible coach,” he told Kelly Clarkson.

“I think the only advice I would give is just not to trust any one of you,” Jonas said of advice. John Legend claimed that he and the other coaches have been giving her advice and feeding her top-secret information.

“Let’s hope I don’t step on her,” Blake Shelton joked. “She looks so tiny on there.”

Season 21 of The Voice will premiere on NBC on September 20.
