‘The Voice’: Full Recap from Final Night of Knockout Rounds

Somehow, we’re already at the end of The Voice Knockout Rounds, and the remaining contestants are some of the fiercest we’ve ever seen. The decisions were unbelievably difficult (as they should be). But in the end, the judges had to choose which competitor they believe will take them to the top.

Let’s find out who those eight were.

Starting with Team Legend, we had Shadale and Samara Brown at the microphone. Samara started us off with a rendition of Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best,” which was, in fact, simply the best. Coach John Legend even paid the singer some of the highest compliments we’ve heard this season. Still, Shadale charged forward with her version of Shontelle’s “Impossible,” creating such an emotional experience.

Because of Shadale’s vulnerability, she took the win for Team Legend.

‘The Voice’ Knockout Round Separates Two Close Friends

Next up were Carson Peters and Lana Scott, fighting for their spot on Team Blake. First up to the mic was Scott, giving us a twangy cover of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.” Her crystal-clear tone won over all four of the judges votes, making it an unfortunate end to Peters’ experience on The Voice.

However, as his coach, Blake Shelton, told him, the choice to sing George Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning” was a brave one but perhaps not the best for his range.

Perhaps the hardest decision of the night came down to coach Ariana Grande since she had to choose between two close friends. Bella DeNapoli battled against Katherine Ann Mohler and both chose unconventional covers of their songs. DeNapoli sang a stripped-down version of Sia’s “Chandelier,” While Mohler chose “Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe.

It was an extremely close call, but ultimately Grande chose DeNapoli.

Fighting to stay on Team Clarkson were Jeremy Rosado and Xavier Cornell. Rosado had judges looking for tissues with his version of “Run to You” by Whitney Houston. Meanwhile, Cornell gave everyone goosebumps with his voice breaks and belts. It was another hard decision, but Kelly Clarkson ultimately chose Rosado.

Knockout Round Ends on a High Note

Ready for Round 2? Well, no one was ready for Peedy Chavis’ performance. First, though, Berritt Haynes tried his hand at “I Swear” by All-4-One, but literally fell flat. Following the shaky performance, Chavis had the audience on its feet when he absolutely owned the stage with Ray Charles’ “Unchain My Heart.”

For coach Shelton, the win clearly belonged to Chavis.

Next was it’s Manny Keith performing “Golden” by Harry Styles and Jim and Sasha Allen with their rendition of “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

This one was much closer than the last performance, and it nearly broke coach Grande’s heart to send Keith home.

From Team Legend came Jershika Maple and Paris Winningham to the mic. Maple took on “Inseparable” by Natalie Cole while Paris sang “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton. Legend was floored with Maple’s performance, deeming her one of his favorites on the show and awarding her the win. But Winningham wasn’t going home so soon.

Shelton used his only steal of the season and snatched up The Voice contestant for his own team.
