Nick Jonas finally revealed some details about why he paid a visit to a local hospital Saturday night.

Jonas, who is one of the four mentors on The Voice, said he cracked a rib as a result of a bike accident. Although he was in some pain, Jonas, quite literally, said the show must go on. Or in this case, the singing. He was there for the live performances of of the top nine with Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend.

“I’m glad to be here,” Jonas told The Voice host Carson Daly as the semifinals began. “Can’t wait to cheer on Team Nick and all the other teams. I’m really happy I’m here.”

Then Nick Jonas asked Shelton to take it easy on him. And that if he’s more subdued than usual, there’s a reason.

“I just want to go ahead and say that, in case I’m not as physically enthusiastic as I usually am,” Jonas said. “Blake, please don’t make me laugh too much.”

But Shelton didn’t let up on the quips, telling Nick Jonas: “You’re just trying to get sympathy votes on this show.” Whatever works, right?

Nick Jonas Was On Mystery Set When He Suffered Injury

We know that Nick Jonas suffered these injuries while filming a project. But there are no details on what project he was filming. And after Monday night’s episode of The Voice, there still was no word.

TMZ.com revealed that the accident was serious enough that Jonas needed to be transported to the ER via ambulance. And that he was working on the set of some, still unnamed project. The outlet speculated that the project is a new singing competition involving Nick Jonas and his brothers.

This is the second season for Nick Jonas on The Voice. He also appeared as a mentor in season 18. However, Jonas won’t be on season 21. Instead, pop star Ariana Grande will take his spot. That news was announced in late March. In a statement, Grande said: “I’m so honored and excited to join The Voice family!”

And she told Nick Jonas: “We will miss you.”

Jonas had two of his team members make the final nine, Rachel Mac and Dana Monique.

Before his accident last week, he told Entertainment Tonight: “I’m very proud of all the work that [my team has] put in,” he noted. “There’s so many gifted people, so many talented artists and so, to have to then cut that down to a small group is so tough, but it’s the show, it’s what we do, it’s part of the journey, and I’m so grateful to have had the chance to work with all the artists. Now to see who moves on is gonna be interesting.”

Jonas is hosting the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 23). So he needs to be healthy and pain free.

To show that he was in good shape Monday night, The Voice tweeted a Nick Jonas clip.
