‘The Voice’ Star Kelly Clarkson Frustrated a Fellow Coach by Being Too Good at Singing

On NBC’s new series “That’s My Jam,” two coaches go head to head in a singing battle. Kelly Clarkson blows everyone away.

This season of “The Voice” is coming to an end. The judges are celebrating a successful run by doing some fun press appearances with each other. It is not secret that Blake Shelton, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Ariana Grande are all talented artists. On a new episode of NBC’s “That’s My Jam,” fans see their vocal chops go mic to mic.

“That’s My Jam” is a new game show on NBC. Hosted by “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon, it is a fun karaoke competition. Today’s biggest stars go through an epic mix of singing challenges that changes every week. “The Voice” judges Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson take the stage in a final round of the episode for a shocking face-off.

Grande and Clarkson’s Performance

Clarkson and Grande compete in the “Mixtape Medley” challenge. This challenge asks competitors to go back and forth in a themed medley of songs. The theme that is chosen is “Pop Divas,” which is perfect for the pair. They alternate singing songs from artists like Alanis Morissette, Britney Spears, and Celine Dion.

Ariana Grande stuns the crowd with Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know.” Her smooth vocal delivery is impressive, and she hits those high notes with ease. This is one of my favorite performances on the episode, and the crowd seems to agree. However, this is not the only Whitney Houston song performed in the medley.

Kelly Clarkson sings the final song of “Mixtape Medley,” and it is a doozy. It is the final chorus of “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. Clarkson belts the first two lines with incredible power. It blows Ariana Grande away, who is seen flailing her arms. She sweetly bows down to the singer by the end of the number. This frustration is not out of spite or jealousy. Grande is in awe. The pair hugs at the end of the performance.

The show ends with a standing ovation and Kelly and John’s team win the episode. Fans hope this is not the last time we see the two pop icons singing with each other.

“This is the craziest day of my life,” Grande says to Blake Shelton.

Fan Reactions

Fans’ reactions to the “That’s My Jam” episode are priceless.

“Ari’s voice is so sensational while Kelly’s voice is so powerful,” one fan writes.

“I could watch a full hour of nothing but Ariana and Kelly going back and forth singing iconic pop diva hits,” another says.

The episode drops as “The Voice” Top 8 gears up for their incredible performances this week. They should feel inspired after watching this medley.
