‘The Waltons’: One Actor’s Crazy Story of Meeting Wife While Promoting Show in Germany

Jon Walmsley found himself in Germany promoting “The Waltons.” Little did he realize that he’d meet his wife there, too.

But that’s exactly what happened. Walmsley, who played Jason Walton for nine seasons on the CBS show, explained how he met Marion in a 2011 interview.

“I am happily remarried to the love of my life, my wife Marion,” he says in an interview republished on Rockfish-river.com. “We met in 2004 in Germany, where ‘The Waltons’ cast was doing a promotional tour to promote the re-introduction of the series to German television.

Jon Walmsley Wife Never Saw ‘The Waltons’ Before Helping Cast

“Marion worked in public relations for the German station and was given the daunting task of being in charge of the cast,” Walmsley said. “She had not seen ‘The Waltons’ previously.”

Walmsley, 65, was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. He has one daughter, Brighton, from his first marriage to Lisa Harrison that ended in 2008. That same year, Walmsley married Marion.

His musical talent, which was a part of his Jason Walton character, was not just for “The Waltons.” Walmsley has been focusing on his music career for many years now. Acting is the furthest thing from his mind.

He loves his life in Cornwall, England, where he and Marion now live. Walmsley was actually born in Britain. His parents moved from Lancashire to California when Walmsley was a baby, the Daily Mail reported in 2019.

Walmsley Not Known By Locals For Showbiz Work

Walmsley enjoys just being an average citizen in Cornwall. No need for PR managers in his life these days.

“I don’t really get recognized as I changed my look a few years ago,” Walmsley says. He looks different from his time on “The Waltons.”

“I love to get into conversations with strangers,” he said, “and I much prefer to be judged on my own merits rather than on any preconceptions.”

Over the years, Walmsley, as a musician, has worked with numerous artists. They range from Richard Marx, Brian Setzer, and Roy Acuff to The Beach Boys’ Al Jardine and Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Don’t expect Walmsley to be appearing on your TV screen in anything soon other than “The Waltons” reruns.
