It might come as a surprise to many that a star of “The Waltons” happened to be the voice of a character in some of your favorite Disney movies.

If you’ve ever watched “Winnie the Pooh” films, then you know that Pooh has got a human sidekick named Christopher Robin. Jon Walmsley, who played Jason Walton in “The Waltons” for nine seasons, provided Robin’s voice.

His voice appears in “Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day” from 1968 and “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh” from 1977.

For those interested in “Pooh” trivia, character actor Sterling Holloway provided the voice for “Winnie the Pooh” in these movies.

Over the years, Disney would offer “Winnie the Pooh” TV specials or short films. These become full-length movies as Walmsley’s calming voice appears in Robin whenever Pooh gets rattled.

Jon Walmsley Put Together Deep Acting Career

Walmsley is best known for being in “The Waltons.” Yet his acting career definitely had plenty of different parts before turning his attention solely to being a musician.

Check this out. In the 1960s, Walmsley appeared on TV shows like “Combat!” on ABC, “Daniel Boone” on NBC, “My Three Sons” on CBS, “Adam-12” on NBC, and “The Bill Cosby Show” on NBC.

Of course, “The Waltons” ran from 1972 to 1981 on CBS. Around that show, Walmsley made another appearance on “My Three Sons,” a voice-over on “The ABC Saturday Superstar Movie,” and is in “Dinky Hocker.”

The 1980s and ’90s pretty much are a lot of “The Waltons” reunion movies and appearances. As for the 2000s, Walmsley appeared in “7th Heaven,” “8 Simple Rules,” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

Nowadays, Walmsley lives in England and keeps his focus on his first love: music.

Walmsley Marries On-Screen Costar Back In 1979

People meet and fall in love in many different ways. Back in 1979, Walmsley met and married actress Lisa Harrison on his show’s set.

Their real-life marriage involved members of “The Waltons” cast in truly meaningful ways. Michael Learned, who plays Olivia Walton, held the wedding reception at her home. Ralph Waite, who plays John Walton Sr., did the marriage in his real-life role of an ordained minister.

Other cast members were present, too. Two of Walmsley’s friends, Patrick Simmons of the rock band The Doobie Brothers and actor John Ritter, also were there. Ritter had played a minister on “The Waltons” early in its run on CBS before leaving to star in ABC’s “Three’s Company.”

Walmsley and Harrison remained married until 2008 when they divorced.
