Suzanne Somers of Three’s Company is quite honest about her relationship with her husband, Alan Hamel. Somers, who played the iconic Chrissy Snow, married Hamel in 1977 and started dating him ten years prior. In total, the couple has been together for over 50 years and has been married for 44.

The two detailed their relationship in an interview with Fox, where they bluntly addressed the good and bad in their 50-year relationship. Somers is still deeply attracted to Hamel.

“He turns me on,” she said. “Since the day we met, I’m overwhelmed with the feeling that I can’t get enough of him. I love his smarts. I love his sexiness, and I love the ‘bad boy’ in him.” She also said that “He loves me deeply. He is loyal. I trust him. I love who he is as a husband and father.”

Somers and Hamel both had children with previous partners. Hamel is the stepfather of Somers’s son Bruce. Meanwhile, Somers is a stepmother to Hamel’s children, Stephen and Leslie. Now, they have grandchildren.

“He is a success in every arena,” the Three’s Company actress continued. “He is my soulmate. We laugh together all throughout the day … and he’s a great dancer!”

The two met while working on a game show and have been together since then. Hamel, who is ten years Somer’s senior, talks about her with a fondness that many only see in newlyweds.

“Suzanne is perfection!” he said. “I still remember that moment we met. [She] was very different from all the ladies I knew in my 20s. I had trouble speaking, I was stunned. We started living together.”

The ‘Three’s Company’ Actress Had Problems in Her Relationship at First

The two lived together for ten years before their marriage. However, their relationship didn’t start out the way it is now. The two experienced serious problems in the beginning.

“[We] married and fought like wild dogs for years but we both knew that this was the real deal and worth figuring out, which we did,” Hamel said. “Since that time, our relationship has really deepened and I don’t remember the last time we argued. We are together 24 hours a day and not one night apart in over 40 years. I crave another 40.”

Somers went from a game show model to one of the most recognizable TV stars of her time for her role as the adorably spacey Chrissy Snow. From her iconic laugh-snort to her fun personality, Somers mastered the role of her time on Three’s Company and went on to find success both personally and professionally afterward. While her relationship with Alan Hamel may have gotten off to a rocky start, it’s clear that it aged like wine.
