Suzanne Somers has owned an extravagant estate in Palm Springs for nearly 40 years. Now, the former Three’s Company star is moving on.
Somers and her husband Alan Hamel have been together for over 50 years. After first meeting on the set of Anniversary Game in 1969, the pair married in 1977. That same year, the pair purchased a jaw-dropping compound and have had it ever since.
But their ownership of the abode is coming to an end. The NY Post is reporting that the pair is moving out in September as they’ve gotten a buyer. It didn’t take especially long, as the Three’s Company legend and her husband just put it up for sale in January.
One of the key aspects of the new digs? Greenness, although Hamel said that wasn’t the biggest priority.
“We’re using this new construction as a new opportunity [to make] everything as green as possible,” Hamel said. “Even though I am not one of those ‘greeniacs,’ we’re making sure the air quality is balanced and perfect, and even the drywall doesn’t have all those chemicals.”
For Somers, the longtime actor and personality says that it was just not the place they needed anymore. Somers is 74, while Hamel is 84.
“It sold because I finally let it go — emotionally, spiritually and physically,” the former Three’s Company star said. “It was not the right home anymore.”
Three’s Company Legend Suzanne Somers Moving to a ‘Sexy’ House
So while the old pad was not the “right home” anymore, the pair says the new place will spark passion using memories of old.
According to the Post, in the pair’s early days together, Hamel lived on a houseboat. Incredibly, the “home” featured a fireplace. In front of said fireplace was a carpeted area that the couple called the “passion pit.” We’ll let others make jokes about what may have gone on there.
However, said “passion pit” is something the pair look fondly back at, and the pair is going to replicate it in their new home.
If that hasn’t set the tone already, the former Three’s Company star all but summed up what the home is supposed to be. There’s going to be considerably less space compared to an estate with five villas, but that won’t be a problem.
“We’re going to give parties,” Somers said. “It’s a party house, a very sexy house.”
