‘Tiger King’ Star Carole Baskin Claims Producers Duped Her

As the world prepares for the premiere of Tiger King 2, there is one person that’s not exactly thrilled about the upcoming sequel to the 2020 documentary phenomenon.

While chatting with TMZ on Tuesday (November 16th), Tiger King star Carole Baskin stated that while she is suing Netflix, she is not trying to stop the streaming service from putting out the sequel. She just simply wants any ties to her cut from the series because she believes that the producers duped her.

Baskin stated that the Netflix show had misrepresented her and her mission to protect her tigers. She also told the media outlet that she is still haunted by the series. This is in the form of harassment and threats from its fans.

Along with the discussion about the Netflix series, Baskin also addressed Jeff and Lauren Lowe’s accusations that she allegedly tipped off feds about their now closed Tiger King Park. She also said that Jeff’s “fury” is misplaced. But she also claims that she and her team have plenty of video evidence in regards to the animal abuse accusations at Lowe’s park. She is planning to air the footage on her new Discovery+ series.

‘Tiger King’ Star Carole Baskin Now Has a Docs-Series on Discovery+

Although she does not want anything to do with the Tiger King spotlight, Carole Baskin is now working with Discovery+ for her new two-part docu-series Carole Baskin’s Cage Fight. “This is a unique opportunity for audiences to come ‘behind the scenes’ with us. For an unfiltered look at how we expose the cub petting exploiters and roadside zoos we feel are mistreating animals.”

Baskin also stated that exposing the animal abusers is part of her and her team’s real-life work. “Viewers will see it comes with our people being threatened. Guns pointed at us, and the bad guys shooting at our drones.”

Baskin addressed why she worked with the Netflix show’s producers, to begin with. “We were being told that it was a documentary about the abuse of wild animals. And that Joe Exotic would be a very small piece of what they were. It turned out to be a reality tv show at best.”

Carole Baskin’s Cage Fight premiered on November 13th. Discovery revealed that the series follows Baskin and the team as they set up a weeklong aerial surveillance of Jeff Lowe’s property. This results in several tense confrontations between her team and him. “Baskin and her team as they investigate the property for any evidence of animal abuse. And trafficking Joe Exotic or Jeff Lowe left behind.”

Baskin actually enlists help from an unlikely source. Joe Exotic’s niece, Chealsi. She notably spent much of her childhood working at G.W. Zoo. She also has first-hand knowledge of what happened behind the scenes.
