Savannah Guthrie Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary on ‘Today’

During a recent interview with LATimes, Savannah Guthrie shares more details about her 10 year anniversary on the Today show. “I didn’t think I’d last six months or a year,” Savannah admits. She thought she was a “transitional” person and was going to be the first casualty.

Savannah also opens about Matt Lauer was removed from the morning news show due to sexual harassment allegations.

“It was really heartbreaking because I adored Matt. I loved working with him,” she explains. “But I knew the most important thing I could do was just stay focused and keep going.”

Savannah Guthrie then states that having Hoda Kotb replace Lauer helped saved the show. She speaks about her interviewing skills. “The number one thing I always pray for is to make sure that I come to an interview with sincerity and good faith. Having done my homework. “

“I think that’s the best I can give to that person who agreed to be interviewed and maybe in a difficult time,” Savannah adds.

Savannah Talks Guest Hosting ‘Jeopardy!’

During her recent USA Today interview, Savannah Guthrie discusses her experience being the guest host of CBS’ iconic game show Jeopardy! “I was like, ‘Oh this is gonna be really hard. Am I ready for this? Can I really do this?” Savannah recalls after being asked to guest host.

Savannah Guthrie says that the experience was ultimately exciting and states it was such an honor to be asked. “I was really excited, but I also intimated. The producers and writers of Jeopardy! Have been there [for] decades. They are truly at the top of their game.”

Savannah Guthrie says the show is about excellence, knowledge, smarts and it’s completely intimidating. “And I really wanted to do a good job because I wanted to show how much I respected the game. I respect the house that Alex [Trebek] built.”

In regards to the possibility of being chosen as the game show’s permanent host, Savannah Guthrie adds that she’s fully occupied with her full-time job and she’s so happy at the Today show.
