Hollywood is one-upping the small screen during the great era of 80s and 90s TV reboots. They’re bringing back the 1988 classic, Twins! And the original actors, Dany DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger are reprising their roles.
Director Ivan Reitman has been teasing us with talks of an old-school revival for years—maybe even decades. The original flick centered around sweet and innocent Julius Benedict (Schwarzenegger) as he searched for his twin brother (DeVito). The pair are as different in looks as they are in personality. The movie was a blockbuster hit and scored $216 million at the box office.
The new movie will actually be about triplets. Apparently, there was another unlikely brother in the mix. But Julius and Vincent never knew him. Recently, Reitman spoke about the film and gave a little synopsis.
“Secretly, there was a third baby born, a Black baby, who hasn’t been in touch with his siblings. They don’t know each other and very early in the movie they meet and it’s how they achieve a bond together after all these years,” he said per Screenrant. “It’s really a film about family and, no matter how different we all are, we have to learn to get along. These guys have great chemistry together, and you can see that in the reel, and how much energy they bring out in each other.”
Originally, The Nutty Professor’s Eddie Murphy was cast as the third brother. But Murphy had to drop out. So Tracy Morgan took his place. They were happy to find someone willing to start shooting almost immediately so they wouldn’t have to postpone any longer.
“I’d been good friends with Tracy Morgan for a long time and always thought he was one of the funniest men in the world. I thought he would make a terrific triplet, and we rewrote the whole script for him.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger and the crew will head to Boston in early 2022 to begin filming.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Celebrates 74th Birthday with His Pet Donkey and Dog
There are a few things Arnold Schwarzenegger is known for. Being the terminator is probably what most people think of when they see the ever-svelt actor. And of course, we can’t forget that he was also the Governor of California. But in recent days, his two new sidekicks have made him even more popular. These sidekicks are a donkey named Lulu and a dog named Dutch.
The animals have become Insta-famous as they’re almost always with the Kindergarten Cop actor. He’s constantly posting pictures with his friends. They even eat at his kitchen table sometimes. So on his 74th birthday, they were the pals he chose to hang with. And he memorialized the day on social media.
“Getting some help finishing up my newsletter so I can send it out to celebrate my birthday tomorrow,” he wrote. “Sign up at the link in my bio!”
