Valerie Bertinelli Files for Divorce from Husband Tom Vitale

Valerie Bertinelli, mother of Wolf Van Halen, has just filed for legal separation from her second husband, Tom Vitale. Bertinelli filed the documents in Los Angeles earlier today, listing the reasoning as “irreconcilable differences.” This will end the couple’s nearly 11-year marriage after saying their vows on New Years’ Day in 2011. Vitale is a financial planner and the CEO of Veebow, an e-commerce company. He and Bertinelli do not share any children.

According to the court documents, Valerie Bertinelli is asking that neither she nor Vitale will receive spousal support. The two also elected to have a prenuptial agreement before their wedding. It is unknown if the couple was dealing with any marital issues past what Bertinelli listed as her reasoning.

Prior to her union with Vitale, Valerie Bertinelli’s first husband was legendary rockstar Eddie Van Halen, who passed away in October 2020 from throat cancer. The two were married from 1981 to 2007 and raised their son, Wolf, who was also in his father’s band and has created a name for himself in the music industry. Both Wolf and Bertinelli were present at the time of Van Halen’s death. Bertinelli even penned a touching message on social media honoring their time together.

“40 years ago my life changed forever when I met you. You gave me the one true light in my life, our son, Wolfgang,” Valerie Bertinelli wrote to her late ex-husband. “Through all your challenging treatments for lung cancer, you kept your gorgeous spirit and that impish grin. I’m so grateful Wolfie and I were able to hold you in your last moments. I will see you in our next life my love.”

Along with the message, Bertinelli also shared a past portrait of the parents with Wolf when he was an infant.

Valerie Bertinelli Shares Sweet Photo of Son Performing on Stage

With all of Wolf’s recent success and talent, Valerie Bertinelli has been more than happy to see her son flourish in the music industry. Back in the summer, the proud mother shared a photo of Wolf performing on stage during a tour with Guns N’ Roses. From her view backstage, Bertinelli was able to capture a snapshot of her son paying homage to his rockstar father. In the photo, the son of the legendary guitarist pointed to the sky with a smile on his face.

“He’s so proud of you, Wolfie,” Valerie Bertinelli tweeted.

Wolf joined his father’s band when he was only 15. Now, the 31-year-old is keeping the Van Halen name alive while also creating a path of his own with his band, Mammoth WVH. Wolf released his debut self-titled album in June of this year in which he played every instrument and wrote every song.
