Valerie Bertinelli Posts Tear-Jerking Photo of Son Wolf Van Halen On Stage: ‘He’s So Proud of You’

On Tuesday, actress Valerie Bertinelli posted a heartwarming photo of her son, Wolfgang Van Halen, and assured him that his father would be “so proud” of him.

Since his dad, Eddie Van Halen, passed away last year, Wolf has branched out with his own solo music career. In June, the musician released his first album under the band name Mammoth WVH. In addition, Wolf’s band is currently on tour opening up for Guns N’ Roses. Not a bad gig for your first major tour as a solo artist.

Following Eddie’s death due to a long battle with throat cancer, Wolfgang turned to his music to help him cope with the loss of his father. He wrote every song and played every instrument on the Mammoth WVH debut album. Wolf joined his dad’s iconic band at just 15 years old as Van Halen’s bassist, so the pedigree is obviously there. However, the 31-year-old musician is looking to walk his own path within the music industry, and he’s off to a solid start.

Mammoth WVH’s debut album shot to the top of multiple Billboard charts. It reached No. 1 on the Top Rock, Hard Rock, and Independent Albums charts. Additionally, the debut album reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart. For a musician with a legendary guitarist as a dad whose shadow looms large over his work, Wolf Van Halen is already paving his own road.

During a recent stop on the Guns N’ Roses tour, Wolf’s mom tagged along. While backstage, she captured her son walking off the stage as Mammoth WVH finished their set. Wolfgang is pointing to the sky as Bertinelli reminded Wolf that Eddie is still with him even to this day.

“He’s so proud of you, Wolfie,” Bertinelli tweeted alongside a heart emoji.

Wolf Van Halen Unleashes on Fans Who Want Him to Play His Late Father’s Music

Wolf Van Halen is doing his best to carve out a music career separate from his famous father’s. Yet that doesn’t mean every Van Halen fan understands his intent as a musician. Unfortunately, many fans seem to want Wolfgang to be a glorified Van Halen cover band, but that’s not what the former bassist for the band wants for his own career.

Recently, Wolf shared a Facebook conversation between himself and a fan. While the fan complimented Mammoth WVH’s music, he also wanted Wolf to “honor” Eddie by performing his dad’s music. The musician couldn’t disagree more. He made it very clear that he wouldn’t be playing any Van Halen hits at his shows.

Wolfgang followed that up with a perfect example of the irony behind his solo music career.

“*Plays in band with Dad* ‘That spoiled brat is just riding his daddy’s coattails,’” he wrote.

“*Plays in own band without covering [Van Halen]* ‘Yo, why isn’t he riding his daddy’s coattails??’” Wolf added about the ironic dilemma.

Eddie’s son just can’t seem to catch a break with some fans. But at least he’s staying true to himself and his music in the process.
