Van Morrison and Eric Clapton Releasing New Anti-Lockdown Track, ‘Stand and Deliver’

Van Morrison and Eric Clapton are teaming up. With restrictions hurting the live music industry, Morrison is continuing his efforts to support artists affected by bans on live music.

Further, the legendary Northern Irish rocker is calling upon a friend and fellow legend, Eric Clapton. Per Variety, their new track, ‘Stand and Deliver,’ features Clapton performing, and Morrison with the writing credits.

‘Stand and Deliver’ is the latest in Morrison’s efforts. Alongside the upcoming song, Morrison has a fleet of anti-lockdown tracks. They include ‘No More Lockdown,’ ‘As I Walked Out,’ and ‘Born to Be Free.’

Additionally, the proceeds of Morrison’s tracks are going to his ‘Lockdown Financial Hardship Fund.’

‘Stand and Deliver’ is set to be released on all major streaming services on December 4.

Eric Clapton Comments on Lack of Live Music

The United Kingdom, United States and many places elsewhere in the world currently fluctuate on restrictions. The two rock legends are also adamant that live music needs to come back in their home country and elsewhere.

Variety shares a quote from Clapton. The 75-year-old explains what Morrison’s fund-raising means to him.

“There are many of us who support Van and his endeavors to save live music; he is an inspiration,” Clapton said. “We must stand up and be counted because we need to find a way out of this mess. The alternative is not worth thinking about. Live music might never recover.”

Morrison also talks about Clapton’s contribution.

“Eric’s recording is fantastic and will clearly resonate with the many who share our frustrations,” said Morrison. “It is heart-breaking to see so many talented musicians lack any meaningful support from the government. But we want to reassure them that we are working hard every day to lobby for the return of live music, and to save our industry.”
