‘Walker’: Jared Padalecki Reacts After CW Renews ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ Reboot

“Walker” fans are rejoicing after The CW announced that the show will be returning for a second season. Actor Jared Padalecki was happy, too.

Padalecki, who handles roles as lead actor and executive producer of the “Walker, Texas Ranger” reboot, shares his excitement over getting a second season from The CW via Instagram.

Now Padalecki is no stranger to being a part of shows on The CW. He’s been on “Gilmore Girls” and, for 15-plus years, part of “Supernatural.” Padalecki admits that there is a part of him still sad to see “Supernatural” come to an end.

“I still am grieving ‘Supernatural,’” he said. “I really am. It was 15 1/2 years. I met my wife on the show. I met my dear friend and many dear friends. (And) I really enjoyed Sam Winchester. So, I’m still grieving that process”

Jared Padalecki Spent Two Years Developing ‘Walker’

Padalecki said he has spent the past two years developing “Walker.”

“So I’ve had a chance to get to know the character and the show and figure out who this guy is and what the show is gonna be about,” he said. “It’s been interesting. Ultimately, ‘Supernatural’ was such a big part of my life. I’m 38, and that was 15 1/2 years of my life. There’s no real way to calculate it, and I don’t think I’ll ever really grasp that or make sense of it.”

Padalecki admits this version of “Walker” is different from the classic one portrayed by Chuck Norris. He wanted to take it in a different direction.

“The original (series) was this lawman who abides by his own rules, and he would just do head-spinning kicks on people, and obviously we can’t do that now; that would be laughably bad,” Padalecki said. “We don’t want the audience to ever know whether Walker is quote conservative or quote liberal, or quote Republican or quote Democrat.”

Padalecki Wants ‘Walker’ To Listen More, Make Decisions

“This version of ‘Walker,’ we play with the gray area,” Padalecki said. “This is not a show about a martial artist kicking minorities in the face; this is a show about a legit Texan saying, ‘Hey, I need to hear the whole story before I make a decision.’ So this version is less about what goes through somebody’s fists and feet, and more about what goes through somebody’s head and heart.”

While some yearn for old-school “Walker” style episodes and give this version mixed reviews, it’s done well enough in the eyes of CW executives.

Get ready for another season of “Walker” and his adventures as a Texas Ranger.
