“Walker” fans rejoice! The show is getting a second season! That means you will be getting more of Jared Padalecki and company!
According to an article on PopCulture.com, the show was one of several CW shows that will be extended for another season. It’s really no surprise that the network would bring back the Jared Padalecki-led show. During its premiere in January, “Walker” was watched by more people than any other show debut on the network in five years.
Just when “Walker” fans thought getting a second season was enough good news – there’s more. According to the article, CW has also requested that five more episodes be added to the show’s first season. The article also shared a statement from Mark Pedowitz about the shows receiving additional seasons. He is the president and CEO of The CW.
“Though we’re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season,” Pedowitz reportedly said.
The statement particularly addressed “Walker,” as well as The CW show “Superman & Lois.”
“As The CW’s 2020-2021 season kicks into high gear, we are thrilled creatively with the direction of our first new shows out of the gate, ‘Walker” and ‘Superman & Lois,’ that we wanted to order the additional episodes to complete their first seasons, and we are particularly pleased with the huge success of the launch of ‘Walker,’ which debuted as our most-watched series premiere in five years,” Pedowitz also said, according to the article.
‘Walker’ Reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger” Starring Chuck Norris
The CW’s “Walker” may sound familiar to some older television watchers. That’s because it is a reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” which starred Chuck Norris. In the 2021 version of the show, Padalecki, who is most famous for his role on “Supernatural,” plays Cordell Walker.
The show finds Cordell Walking mourning for his wife who recently passed away. He is investigating it, but he is also a father. Plus, he has to give time to his job as a Texas Ranger.
Interestingly, Padalecki, who is a Texas native was familiar with the original show. In fact, he said viewing episodes of “Walker, Texas Ranger” “was part of growing up in Texas,” according to Entertainment Weekly.
“I wasn’t a superfan but I grew up with it, I saw most of the episodes,” Padalecki also said. “It was part of growing up in Texas. It was huge all over, but it was certainly huge here.”
You can watch the reboot of “Walker” on The CW at 8 p.m. each Thursday.
