No tricks, just treats, with Bette Midler releasing details on the sequel to the Halloween classic “Hocus Pocus.”
“I’m not gonna give anything away, but there will definitely be music in it,” Midler told Jenna Bush Hager on the TODAY interview. “And they’ll be dancing, too.”
Bette Midler’s rendition of “I Put a Spell on You”, she performed in the original 1993 movie, was a spooky smash hit.
Almost 30 years after the 1993 release of the cult classic, the Sanderson sisters are coming back. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy portray the sisters in the original ‘Hocus Pocus’. The new film will include all three of the original witches.
“We’re thrilled to death,” Midler said. “It was a lot of fun making it, and when it first came out, it wasn’t as big of a hit as we were hoping for, but as the years have gone by, it’s gotten more and more embedded in the culture, and people love it. They say, ‘Oh, I brought my kids up on that, and I saw it when I was a kid, and it’s great.”
The incoming virtual responses prove just how loved the film is, and the excitement being felt by fans.
“In Search of the Sanderson Sisters: A Hocus Pocus Hulaween Takeover” premieres the day before Halloween for a $10 fee.
The money gained from the premiere is benefitting and raising awareness of the New York Restoration Project. The non-profit organization founded by Midler in 1995, focuses on transforming open space in under-resourced communities.
