WATCH: Kathy Griffin Returns Home From Hospital and Is Greeted By Her Adorable ‘Pawfessionals’

On Friday, actress and comedian Kathy Griffin returned home from the hospital following her recent cancer diagnosis announcement.

On August 2, Griffin revealed that she has lung cancer. In a heartfelt Twitter post, she shared that she was about to have surgery to remove half of her left lung. The comedian’s doctors diagnosed her with stage one lung cancer, and are optimistic about her recovery.

Earlier today, she was welcomed home by her “pack” of dogs. In a short clip shared on social media, Griffin sits down outside of her home. As she does, she’s swarmed by her four dogs upon her return home. Kathy Griffin amusingly called her canine friends her “board certified medical PAWfessional recovery pack.”

It’s good to see Griffin out of the hospital and recovering from her recent lung surgery. As long as everything goes smoothly, hopefully she’ll be on the mend soon. We’re sure she’s happy to be home, and it’s clear her dogs are thrilled to have her back too.

Kathy Griffin Reveals Lung Cancer Diagnosis

As mentioned before, Kathy Griffin announced her cancer diagnosis in a candid Twitter post. She revealed details about the disease in her lungs in her hopeful message.

“I’ve got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed. Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked! The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung. Hopefully, no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less,” Kathy Griffin tweeted.

Additionally, Griffin touched on her career and promised her fans that she’ll “be just fine.” She also shared how important it was to her health that she had the Covid vaccination.

“It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh, and entertaining you. But I’m gonna be just fine, ” she added. “Of course, I am fully vaccinated for Covid. The consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious. Please stay up to date on your medical checkups. It’ll save your life.”

Her Courageous Statement About Addiction Following Lung Cancer Surgery

Two days after her successful surgery, Kathy Griffin shared another revealing statement with her fans. The actress opened up about her previous addiction to painkillers and her suicide attempt in 2020.

The 60-year-old laid bare details about the difficulties in her personal life. While many saw Griffin as an amusing and at times outrageous comedian, she had some internal struggles that most didn’t know about.

“Tonight will be my first night without any narcotic painkillers,” Griffin wrote. “Hello Tylenol, my new best friend!”

The celebrity revealed that she has previously abused painkillers in the past. In addition, she tried to take her own life in June 2020 by overdosing on the prescription pills.

“The last time I was in the hospital was in June 2020 when I tried to take my life and overdosed on prescription pills,” she shared.

Griffin has been drug free for over a year now, and seems to be in a good place these days. As she mentioned in her hopeful statement, “I think I’ll be ok.”
