WATCH: Kid Rock Crashes 2014 Stevie Nicks ‘Landslide’ Performance to Give Her a Kiss

Believe it or not, Fleetwood Mac’s frontwoman, Stevie Nicks, has a tight-knit bond with another fellow rocker: Kid Rock. Back in 2014, fans got to witness first-hand the pair’s friendship at one of her concerts at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan.

During the performance of the band’s famous song, “Landslide,” audience members got the surprise they never saw coming when Kid Rock crashed the stage. Before beginning the classic ’70s hit, Nicks announced that she would like to dedicate the performance to a special someone, that someone being the Detroit native himself, Kid Rock.

If you’re wondering how and when the two legends met, according to Nicks, they began their relationship in 2001 and “have had a very special friendship ever since.”

“We had the special opportunity to spend four days at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in 2006 with (the late Atlantic Records co-founder) Ahmet Ertegun, me, Kid, Robert Plant, Stevie Winwood, Nile Rodgers, Chaka Khan and more,” she said at the time in an email to the Oakland Press.

Stevie Nicks On Her Relationship With Kid Rock: ‘We Relate On Many Levels’

She added, “It was adult summer camp in Switzerland. We relate on many levels. Behind (Rock’s) crazy flamboyance lies the most amazing person. We have always joked that if I had had a child, it would have been him. From that comes the dedication on stage during the Detroit show.”

During her dedication, Kid Rock couldn’t help himself but rush the stage. After whispering a few words into her ear, the rocker turned around to hug her good friend. He even received a kiss on the cheek from Nicks herself. The audience immediately erupted into cheers and applause for the unexpected appearance.

At the time, Kid Rock revealed that his decision to surprise her on stage was “spontaneous” and confessed what he whispered into her ear.

“I told Stevie when I surprised her that her security was not very good — joking, of course,” he said. “They sounded great, I thought.”During the moment, the two remained slow dancing until the song finished. Afterward, Nicks turned around to return the hug and kiss. Rock also embraced Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham as he made his way off stage.

Rock also said that he’d known Nicks “pretty well through the last ten years.” Adding, “Stevie has always declared me ‘the rock n roll love child’ she never had.”
