Mariska Hargitay has had a rough couple of weeks thanks to a leg injury. Thankfully, she has some comedian friends to cheer her up. The Law & Order: SVU actress injured her ankle at a premiere of Marvel’s Black Widow, and has since had to rest.
Hilariously, Hargitay’s friend Melissa McCarthy is here to save the day with a… street sign… outside a Wienerschnitzel.
Hargitay shared the funny clip on her Instagram. McCarthy originally posted the video do her own account.
“If you can’t produce quality care for your friend after ankle surgery, the next best this is obviously standing outside Wienerschnitzel with a sign,” the comedian wrote. Hargitay was quick to re-post the video with a thank you message for McCarthy.
“Above and beyond. Honk if you’re blown away by @melissamccarthy’s heart and humor,” she wrote. “Might be worth breaking my ankle for. #PrayingSheGotMeATakeOutSchnitzel. #WomenSupportingWomen”
The sign hilariously says “Honk if you’re PRAYING for Mariskahargitay recovery!!!” McCarthy did wind up getting a well-deserved honk.
Hargitay injured her ankle a couple of weeks ago, but it came after an initial injury a couple of months ago. Overall, the actress has had really bad luck when it comes to her health recently, and fans and friends alike are rooting for her to feel better.
Hargitay has been posting a lot about her recovery process on Instagram, showing off some “get well soon” gifts she’s gotten from friends as well as a pretty intense cast. She’s clearly kept her spirits high, however, joking that the injury is her new “summer look.”
Whether or not her injury will affect the filming of Law & Order: SVU remains unclear.
Mariska Hargitay was on Another TV Show Before ‘SVU’
Hargitay may be closely associated with her record-breaking time spent playing Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, but she also had a pretty important role in an iconic series before the show aired, and it wasn’t a role she thought she was going to get.
The actress played Cynthia Hooper on ER. Hooper was the girlfriend of the main character, Dr. Mark Greene. When Hargitay went to the audition, she thought there was no way she’d get the part. She was surrounded by a bunch of beautiful blonde women.
Thinking she wasn’t going to get the role took the pressure off her, and she actually had fun at her audition. By the end, she knew she absolutely nailed it. And despite the competition, Hargitay got the part and played the character throughout season 4 of the show in 1997.
In 1999, she landed the part of Olivia Benson, and she’s still playing the iconic character. Hopefully, Mariska Hargitay will heal up fast, and not have any repeat injuries this time around.
