To make a “PhiLee Cheesesteak” sandwich, you need the proper ingredients. The Motley Crue drummer has a spread of steak, bell peppers, onions, garlic butter, hoagie sandwich bread, provolone, and cheese whiz. Lee especially seems enthusiastic about his cheese whiz, which is a cheese sauce.
Make a Cheesesteak The Tommy Lee Way
First, chop up the steak, bell peppers, and onions. Lee likes to scoop out some of the bread from inside the hoagies, forming a pocket. According to him, “nobody likes all that bread. Gotta fill that s–t with steak.” For seasoning, he spreads garlic butter across the inside of the hoagies.
Lee mixes both the bell peppers and onions together in a skillet and cookies it until the onions “are translucent.” He also adds the steak to a separate pan. He then cooks it until it’s almost done and adds the provolone to half and the cheese whiz to the other.
Put that all together and you get one of Lee’s signature sandwiches. For those looking to eat like a rock star, results may vary. Lee didn’t list the measurements of ingredients or temperatures to cook the steak or bell peppers and onions at. Conventional wisdom suggests a medium heat to avoid burning the food and grease splashes.
The Motley Crue Drummer Enjoys His Creation
Lee seems to be in an especially cheerful and hungry mood. He chowed down on two sandwiches while his wife Brittany Furlan filmed the drummer.
“Time to get loaded. Not in the way you used to get loaded,” Furlan said. “But in the new way.”
That may have been a low blow to the rock star who’s been open about his past addictions. But Furlan was probably only joking. Lee credits his wife with convincing him to go to rehab and saving his life after he went on almost a year-long bender. At one point, Lee said he drank vodka by the gallon. But the drummer is around a year sober now.
