NCIS is famously known as TV’s most-watched drama. It premiered in 2003 and has since spawned three wildly popular spinoffs. So being a part of CBS’s crime drama franchise would probably be an actor’s dream come true. At least, it should be. And it was definitely a career-defining moment for Vanessa Lachey, who grabbed the lead role in the newest spinoff, NCIS: Hawai’i.
The day Vanessa Lachey got the news that she’d be playing Jane Tennant on NCIS: Hawai’i is forever etched into her mind. As soon as she found out, she recorded her reaction on her phone. She never wanted to forget the rush of emotions she felt at that moment. Who would?
Now that her series has officially kicked off, she decided to share the video on Instagram, which was a great testament to her appreciation.
“I remember the day I got the call ‘You got the job!'” she captioned. In the video, she’s hysterical with happiness. She’s bawling her eyes out. And, of course, Vanessa Lachey is one of the only people on the planet who could make the ugly cry look beautiful.
“Ok, I’m in the car, and I just found out I got the job,” she says in between sobs. “And I am so happy.” Vanessa was recording herself as she drove to her best friend’s house to share the word. “I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to do. Thank you, I’m so happy,” she continued.
After she pulled up at her friend’s house, people were already waiting on the lawn. They must’ve known something was up. “I got the job! I got the job!” she yelled. And she was sobbing even harder by that point.
Vanessa’s friend was just as excited to learn the news about NCIS: Hawai’i. We’re happy she has such a wonderful support group! And Lachey also has the support and love of CBS. They were the first to comment on her post by writing, “crying tears of joy with you.”
‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Opens Up About Family’s Move to Hawaii
Being a cast member on NCIS: Hawai’i comes with a few perks. And one of them is moving to Hawaii. Vanessa Lachey recently talked about her new job with Entertainment Tonight. And she said that moving to paradise “could be worse.”
When Vanessa learned that she’d be playing Jane Tennant in the new NCIS spinoff, she and her husband Nick had a decision to make. Would Vanessa travel to Hawai’i half the year to film her new drama, or would the family just move there? And according to Vanessa, it wasn’t a hard choice.
“It was a talk that I had with my husband and I said, ‘What do you think?'”she said. “And…he’s like, ‘Hawaii, umm, it could be worse.’ And he was like, ‘This is awesome!’”
But the best part was when Nick reminded her that she has his undying support. “And I’ll never forget him saying, ‘This is your time and you’ve been there in the past for me.’”
