On Tuesday, Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak congratulated his co-host Vanna White for her recent feat on the golf course and ate some crow while he was at it. Evidently White has been working hard on her golf game and it’s paid off. She’s now broken 100 and officially scoring in double digits. However, Sajak never thought she’d break the milestone.

Anyone that’s ever golfed knows it’s not an easy game, especially when you first start playing. Back in October 2020 while on-air, Sajak told White flat out that she’d never break 100 on the scorecard. Fast forward to New Year’s Day, and the subject came back up. White’s New Year’s resolution was to break 100 on the golf course, which Sajak simply laughed at. Yet on last night’s episode of Wheel of Fortune, Sajak admitted he owed her an apology.

“Ladies and gentlemen, a woman who scored a 96 on the golf course!” Sajak said announcing her recent feat. “My humble apologies… You must be very excited.”

“I’m so proud of myself,” White responded.

“Four quick questions for you. Were there witnesses?” Sajak hilariously asked White.

“Yes,” White said.

“Was it minature golf?” Sajak said.

“No!” White said with a laugh.

“Have you golfed since then?” he asked next.

“Yes, I golfed the next day,” she said.

“What did you score?” Sajak asked with his last question.

“110,” White amusingly admitted as the Wheel of Fortune hosts brought the game show to an end.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Pat Sajak Once Switched Jobs With Vanna White After Losing His Voice

Since Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak lost his friendly bet with co-host Vanna White over her golf score, maybe the pair should switch jobs for an episode. Although he didn’t lose a bet back in 1996, Sajak did lose his voice and had to do exactly that. White took over the duties of dealing with the contestants while Sajak flipped the letters for once.

For a host that makes a living talking on a game show, having laryngitis isn’t exactly helpful. Therefore the Wheel of Fortune co-hosts had to get creative.

“I did her job one day,” Sajak said of White during a 2013 Good Morning America interview. “It got so bad (his voice) I couldn’t get through the Bonus Round.”

In 1996, the pair swapped out towards the end of the show in the Bonus Round. The category was “THING” and the answer was a seven-letter word that the contestant guessed correctly, which was “SYNONYM.” After Sajak turned the first three letters, he amusingly said he was “exhausted.”

White complimented Sajak for a job well done, although she claimed it wasn’t a total switch. As White said, “he didn’t put my dress on.”
