One contestant on the popular game show, Wheel of Fortune, will be heading to the warm, tropical country of Costa Rica for vacation.
After solving a tough puzzle on Wednesday evening’s episode, one lucky contestant named Mackenzie won herself a vacation to the beautiful Central American country. The official Wheel of Fortune Instagram account posted footage from the episode that shows the moment Mackenzie won the prize puzzle. Naturally, the video starts with Wheel of Fortune host, Pat Sajak, explaining what’s at stake.
“We’re looking for a phrase this time in a puzzle that is our prize puzzle,” Sajak says. “Mackenzie, spin it.”
As the contestant spins the wheel and the crowd applauds behind her, she just happens to land on the million. After revealing a few different letters, Sajak, the longtime Wheel of Fortune host, asks Mackenzie if she would like to “spin or solve.”
“I’d like to solve!” she says. “It brings a smile to my face.”
“That’s it,” Sajak responds. “You got it! Hey, wanna go to Costa Rica?”
Of course, Mackenzie is over the moon. “Yesss!!!” she exclaims. Take a look at the cool moment for yourself down below:
“Mackenzie’s vacation itinerary: Costa Rica!” Wheel of Fortune wrote alongside the clip.
‘Wheel of Fortune’ is Known for Offering Far-Reaching Vacations as Prizes
Seeing contestant Mackenzie win a trip to Costa Rica was pretty cool. But it most certainly is not the first time we’ve seen a Wheel of Fortune contestant win a vacation abroad. In fact, another contestant named Matt just won a trip to Italy.
Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak explains as much in a recent video.
“I’ll tell you, the folks at Collette do a great job. We’ve taken some wonderful trips with them over the years. And Matt won a trip to Italy, and you’ve been there a number of times,” he says to co-hostess Vanna White.
“It’s one of my favorite countries. Yes,” White responds.
Speaking far-reaching vacations, Wheel of Fortune gave out another European getaway on Monday night to a contestant named Caleb. It all started when he landed on the Express section of the wheel. If he accepts, he gets $1,000 for each consonant he calls correctly. However, if he were to miss a letter, it’s an automatic bankrupt.
But Caleb was able to stay calm, cool, and collected, and rattle off the correct answer to the puzzle: “Magnificent Ancient Ruins.” In doing so, he racked up an incredible $11,500 in just one round. But that was just the beginning. Pat Sajak announced the rest of the good news shortly after.
“And you’re going to the islands of Greece!”
