Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak was without a comeback quip. And it all prompted several seconds of laughter.

First, let’s set the stage. If you watch Wheel of Fortune, you’re familiar with this part of the show. Sajak asks each of the three contestants to introduce themselves and share a key detail about their lives. Show producers usually screen the info, so Sajak knows at least some of it before the segment.

Sajak teed up the question when he asked a contestant named Anthony about how he met his wife. Sajak said he was told it was in “a strange way, an interesting way.”

Anthony smiled. Yes, it’s definitely interesting, in a what-are-the-odds kind of way. He said:

“We did as a matter of fact. We were introduced to each other by a mutual friend when I moved here to California 11 years ago.

“And unbeknownst to the two of us, we grew up three blocks apart. We graduated from the same high school, three years apart. And we attended the same university. But we never each other, never (saw) each other.

“But hey, when I saw her on social media, I knew I had to have her, Pat.”

Wheel Of Fortune Contestant’s Story Tickled Sajak

That line tickled Pat Sajak. “That’s right out of the twilight,” Sajak said. “I had something to say, but that was much better.”

So Anthony left Sajak, the guy who always has the easy, effortless quip, without anything cute to say. Anthony one-upped the best.

Check it out on Twitter from the official Wheel of Fortune account. The game show social media team wrote that “Anthony’s love story is one for the books.”

Wheel of Fortune isn’t a hit show without its brilliant, sometimes very charismatic, contestants. And the show loves to highlight them on social media.

There was this recent moment between Sajak and a contestant. A guy named Frey solved the puzzle. It had an obvious St. Patrick’s Day vibe to it. “Dreaming Of My Trip To Ireland,” Frey said as he solved the puzzle.

And guess what, Frey won a trip to Ireland. When Sajak asked him if he knew where he was going, Frey kept playfully answering with questions. Europe? Scotland” It drove Sajak to quip: “Don’t toy with me. I don’t care what you do, you’re not getting your own sitcom.”

In a nod to March Madness, there’s also an ongoing bracket to choose Vanna White’s best dresses. They’re grouped by seasons.

So on Wheel of Fortune, one of the top game shows in TV history, it’s all good fun.
