# ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant’s Wildly Incorrect Answer Has Fans Pouring in Hilarious Reactions

Sometimes things just go completely wrong. For one unfortunate contestant on a recent episode of “Wheel of Fortune,” things went completely wrong for him on national television.

So, what happened?

Well, according to a report by FoxNews.com, a contestant whose name is Matt missed an answer to one of the episode’s puzzles in such a – let’s say – puzzling fashion that fans could not help but share their thoughts.

Matt’s embarrassing error occurred during an episode of “Wheel of Fortune” that aired on Tuesday (June 8). It wasn’t that Matt just got the answer wrong. What he guessed as the answer did not reflect what letters were already on the board. To make matters worse, the competitor was in the front-runner at that point in the episode. He had \$9,900 in the bank when he decided to solve the puzzle.

Here are the letters on the board Matt was reportedly working with when things went wrong: “THE N_ _T _ _ N_ R _ T _ _ N.”

The solution to this puzzle is not immediately obvious. However, what Matt offered up as his answer really came out of left field. The competitor’s solution appeared to some fans to be “The Best Buttercup.” Others heard him say “The Best Butter Cut.”

Whatever Matt said, his solution wasn’t even close to the correct answer – and people noticed. The correct answer to this “Wheel of Fortune” puzzle was “The Next Generation.”

## Fans Share Their Thoughts About ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant’s Wrong Answer Online

And unsurprisingly, fans of “Wheel of Fortune” had plenty to say about Matt’s incorrect – and unfortunate – answer during his episode. Many of them took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One viewer of the show reportedly said he was “in stitches” after poor Matt’s incredibly incorrect answer.

Another viewer was left in disbelief by the contestant’s response. “Did this man on wheel of fortune say the best buttercup??¿??” this confused fan asked.

Still another viewer pointed out the obvious in a tweet: “Not ONE letter in that word matched ‘buttercup’!”

Possibly the best explanation for why Matt may have made such an error when he tried to solve that puzzle jokingly came from another Twitter user: “‘The best buttercup’ sounds like something a person might say when the anesthesia wears off. #WheelOfFortune.”

One fan wanted to know what “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak had to say about the answer: “The best buttercup? #wheeloffortune @patsajak how did you not crack up laughing or make one of your hilarious faces.”

Of course, one of the first people to respond to Matt’s mistake was host Pat Sajak. And in true Pat Sajak fashion, his reaction to the incorrect answer was pretty funny.

“Uh, no. Oddly enough, no,” the “Wheel of Fortune” host said.
