‘Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Puzzled by Contestant Winning Trip to Anticlimactic Location

On Monday night’s episode of Wheel of Fortune, some viewers were left scratching their head over a contestant winning a trip to a not-so-special location.

While Wheel of Fortune often gives away trips to exotic locations as prizes, one contestant was dealt a different hand. Dan from Redondo Beach, California successfully solved the first-round puzzle. In addition, he won a surprise trip…to Connecticut.

After he won the round, the card revealed that the trip was for a vacation at Connecticut’s Madison Beach Hotel. Rooms at the hotel go for an average of $400 per night. The hotel includes amenities like a spa, fine dining options, and beach access adjacent to the property. The trip is supposedly worth $7,000, but Dan’s face couldn’t hide the anticlimactic reveal of the Connecticut getaway.

Although the trip seems fairly underwhelming, Dan did well for himself on Wheel of Fortune. He also solved the final puzzle, which earned him an additional $38,000 on top of his $17,250 already earned. A total of $55,250 isn’t too shabby for an evening’s work.

However, some fans of Wheel of Fortune couldn’t help but make fun of the trip giveaway online. One Twitter user seems to know Madison, Connecticut well, and warned Dan not to get his hopes up.

“Bro one of the prizes on Wheel of Fortune is a 7k trip to CT. To Madison. Mans about to be hella disappointed,” the fan hilariously wrote on Twitter.

Another fan of the show couldn’t contain their disbelief over the trip’s location. Not every trip giveaway can be to Hawaii unfortunately.

Wheel of Fortune just had a $7,000 trip to Madison, Connecticut. Iā€™m dead,” they tweeted.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Congratulates Contestant After Huge Winnings

During Tuesday night’s episode of Wheel of Fortune, contestant Adrine dominated and earned herself a nice payday. She won $24,988 during the normal rounds, which earned her a chance to win even more in the final bonus round.

After choosing the letters “P, C, K, and A” the contestant only had three blanks left. It was clear as day that the puzzle solution was “TAKING PICTURES,” and Adrine’s big smile said it all. She knew the answer immediately and ended up adding an extra $38,000 to her total. She walked away with $62,988 on the day, and even earned a shoutout from Wheel of Fortune‘s Twitter account for her efforts.

“Say cheese, Adrine! She just won $38,000! See it here,” the account wrote along with a clip of her successful final bonus puzzle.

As huge as her total prize winnings were, it’s not the most ever on the show. In 2015, Matt Desanto won every single category, including guessing a puzzle that only had one vowel filled in. The moment amusingly left hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White stunned.

Desanto still holds the record for the most money earned during the regular portion of the show. According to ET Online, Desanto finished the game with $91,000 even before the final bonus round began.
