Host of Wheel of Fortune Pat Sajak and his daughter Maggie are on a mission to answer their fans’ most burning questions on Instagram. Seated side-by-side in the backseat of their car, Maggie Sajak offers fans a chance to get inside the brain of one of America’s favorite game show hosts by recording the interview on her Instagram story.
Pat’s daughter, reminiscent of his famed assistant Vanna White, dressed to impress with her hair in neat curls and her stunning, sparkly eyeshadow. Beside her, Pat traded his signature suit for a more relaxed look—a blue, long-sleeve Under Armor tee.
Each day, Maggie chooses one question from her followers’ submitted questions to ask her celebrity dad. The latest question just might be Pat’s favorite yet.
Pat Sajak Reveals the Trick Behind Being A Witty Host on ‘Wheel of Fortune’
Before today’s interview, Pat Sajak answered questions about gameplay, his wardrobe and moments viewers don’t see on camera. The Wheel of Fortune host answered honestly and with his usual charm as his daughter played the role of a celebrity reporter.
Today, Maggie wore a cheeky grin as she tells her dad that he’ll like this question. From her phone, she read, “What does Pat do to be so witty with guests?”
She called the follower that submitted the question “smart” for putting “a compliment in the question.”
Sajak chuckles as he heard this and humbly contradicted, “I believe that was a thinly veiled suggestion that I’m an egomaniac,” but quickly added, “I appreciate the question and the thought behind it.”
In response to the inquiry, Pat Sajak reveals that the trick to being a witty host is to pay attention. While hosts always have to be thinking ahead to the next round of the game or upcoming segment, it’s just as important to be in the moment with the contestants. Otherwise, they risk missing those “witty” and relatable moments that Sajak seems to master.
“If you’re not paying attention,” Sajak said, “You’re going to miss those golden moments.”
Other Sajak Family News
Outside of his interview with his daughter, Pat Sajak recently announced that his son, Patrick, graduated from medical school. The 30-year-old has made his father proud with this new accomplishment. Sajak revealed the news at the end of an episode of Wheel of Fortune.
“So, you know my son, Patrick — you’ve known him all his life,” Sajak told White as the credits rolled. “Well, he’s made it through medical school, and he is now officially Dr. Sajak, and we are thrilled about that.”
Of course, the game show host couldn’t give the happy news without his usual dose of satire.
“The only troubling part is he insists that I call him Dr. Sajak,” he said. “No, Lesly and I couldn’t be prouder, and I tried to get him into geriatrics, but he refused. … Anyway, congratulations son.”
Furthermore, no matter if in the car or on-air, Sajak seems to be the ultimate example of an appreciative and witty host.
