‘Wheel of Fortune’: Pat Sajak, Contestant Crack Dad Jokes About Fencing in New Clip

With how many clever zingers and puns Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak makes on-air, we’re starting to think they need a snare drum on set to accent his jokes with a rimshot.

Today, Sajak was at it again with a classic “dad joke” that left fans chuckling as the game played. The show’s Twitter posted the interaction so that fans could enjoy the host’s clever sense of humor again.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant Has Unique Hobby

What’s even better than Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak’s quips is when contestants play along and add to the interaction.

Although Greg Wylie’s job as a “freelance project manager” seems pretty straightforward, Sajak revealed that the contestant had a unique hobby that the host had never before heard of—competitive historical fencing. The host asked Wylie dressed in “pirate gear” as he fenced.

“Well, it’s more renaissance outfits,” Wylie corrected. “And we do competitive fencing tournaments. We could do multiple players on the field.”

Then the contestant added something that startled the Wheel of Fortune host.

“So basically, I go out on the weekends and stab my friends,” Wylie shared. “So, it’s very cathartic.”

Sajak, though shocked, nevertheless laughed along.

Host Pat Sajak Drops a Dad Joke and Contestant Responds

Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak then switches subjects to family and fatherhood—two areas in which he’s an expert.

Sajak is the father of a 26-year-old daughter, Maggie, who works for the show as an Online Media Correspondent, and a 30-year-old son, Patrick, who recently graduated from medical school. He and his wife, Lesly Brown, have been married for 32 years.

During the show, Sajak asked about contestant Greg Wylie’s homelife.

“I’ve been married to my wife, Serena, for surprisingly, only 14 years. She would say it’s probably longer,” Wylie said. “We have a 12-year-old daughter who’s basically a teenager now.”

Sajak, knowing the challenges of raising a teenage daughter, added, “Well, just stay en garde.”

Ba-dum-tss.

What Sajak didn’t expect, though was that Wylie would come back with a dad joke of his own.

“I got the point,” Wylie said, looking all-too-pleased with himself.

Sajak Is a Sucker for Dad Humor

In a special segment for Father’s Day, Wheel of Fortune dad Pat Sajak and daughter Maggie paired up to share some of Sajak’s favorite dad jokes.

“This just in,” the game show host said. “A bus carrying prisoners back to the penitentiary has collided with a cement truck.”

He paused before giving the punchline.

“Public has been warned to look out for hardened criminals.”

Ba-dum-tss.

Sajak then gave another classic joke.

“So, this guy walks into a library and says, ‘I’d like to order a hamburger.’ The librarian said, ‘Sir, this is a library.’ And he said, ‘Oh, I’m sorry.’”

Sajak then whispered, “‘I’d like to order a hamburger.’”

Even Maggie had to laugh at that one.

“Okay, that one was pretty good,” she admitted.
