Hey! Must be the money! Remember how Nelly mentioned sitting first class next to Wheel of Fortune letter-turner Vanna White? If not, don’t worry, White didn’t remember sitting beside him. Surprised that Nelly found room for her in his song, White took it upon herself to ask the artist about it.

In 2000, rapper Nelly released his impossibly catchy hit song, “Ride Wit Me.” The song speaks to indulging in all of life’s luxuries—including riding first class in an airplane beside the Wheel of Fortune celebrity.

“And can I make it? Damn right, I be on the next flight
Paying cash; first class – sitting next to Vanna White.”

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Icon Approaches Nelly

Despite the honorable mention, White didn’t remember ever sharing a flight with the rapper. So, when the opportunity arose, she asked the artist himself.

“I was at an Easter party years ago and Nelly was at that party,” the Wheel of Fortune letter-turner told Us Weekly. “I went up to him and I said, ‘Did we ever sit next to each other on an airplane?’ And he goes, ‘No, it just rhymed.’ True story!”

For some fans, this might ruin the image of White and Nelly side-by-side sipping champagne at cruising altitude. But for White, it put her mind at ease that she didn’t forget such a memorable trip.

Other Songs That Mention Vanna White

Even before Nelly wrote “Ride Wit Me,” namedropping the Wheel of Fortune icon was a popular occurrence across music genres. From whole songs to brief mentions in the lyrics, Vanna White has plenty of music dedicated to her.

Weird Al Yankovic named an entire song after the Wheel of Fortune star with “Stuck in the Closet with Vanna White.” While most of Yankovic’s songs are parodies of real hits, this one was an original.

“I am stuck in a closet with Vanna White
I’m stuck in a closet with Vanna White
Night after night after night after night.”

Ludacris released “Cry Babies” in 2001, giving White a shoutout as a letter-turner.

“My cars got big TVs and satellites
I got a Wheel of Fortune ’cause I flipped O’s like Vanna White.”

Finally, the latest mention of Vanna White occurred in Lil Wayne’s 2009 song, “Gooder.”

“About a year from now I’m tryin to break that new McLaren out
Wheels of fortune on the whip, Vanna White in it.”

However, even with three other popular artists singing or rapping her name, White’s favorite mention is still “Ride Wit Me.”

“My kids were blown away,” White said. “They thought I was really cool that I was in a Nelly song on the radio. That was one of the highlights of my career for my children. Like, ‘Wow, Mom! Great song.’ I was popular on that one… I get a big kick out of it.”
