South Carolina native Herbert White Jr. is the kind of guy we’re celebrating today. The proud stepfather of “Wheel of Fortune” icon Vanna White, Herb married her mother Joan after Vanna’s biological father left the picture. He took on the responsibility of raising her. Now, Vanna is honoring the 95-year old dad with a sweet post on Twitter.

Herbert White Jr. has watched his stepdaughter accomplish things that most can only dream about. When Vanna joined “Wheel of Fortune” in 1982, she had no idea that she would become a pillar of American television. And she definitely couldn’t have known that she’d still be going strong on the same show nearly 40 years later. All the while doing it alongside the same co-host, Pat Sajak, no less.

“Happy Father’s Day to my amazing 95 year old dad and to ALL the dads celebrating today!” Vanna wrote in her tweet.

The 95-year old Herbert White Jr. has seen just about everything in his near-century living on this planet. Few of those things could rival the opportunity he’s had to watch Vanna’s career take off on “Wheel of Fortune.” Just look at him smile as she gives him a peck on the cheek.

The picture brings back memories from Father’s Day last year when Vanna posted a photo with her then 94-year old stepfather.

“Happy Father’s Day to all the great dads in the world, especially mine! I love you dad!” Vanna wrote on the post from 2020.

When ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Shut Down During the Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to be more conscious of our elders. Not that we weren’t grateful for the things they’ve done. But it has certainly been a reminder of how short our time can be. And the difference from Father’s Day last year to this year is staggering. Things are starting to return to normal.

That means shows like “Wheel of Fortune” are free to tape episodes in earnest. And it couldn’t have come a moment too soon.

“You don’t realize when you’ve been working with people for 20-30 years that you do miss them when you don’t see them. When we go to work it’s a happy place,” the “Wheel of Fortune” icon told PopCulture.com in 2020.

“Wheel of Fortune” shut down production for three months last year during the height of the pandemic. It was a tough time for Vanna White. She missed being on the set that had become her home over the past few decades. But the pause also put things in perspective.

At the end of the day, Vanna was still able to celebrate a Father’s Day with her dad.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there. And keep up the great work.
