Wheel of Fortune hostess and letter girl Vanna White is one of the biggest stars on television. But what does do in her free time? Well, she says that she likes to keep things real simple.

Vanna White has played co-host next to Pat Sajak on the longtime game show for nearly four decades. And while many fans know her as Sajak’s right-hand girl, not as many know what she likes to do outside of turning letters on the show. White helped answer those questions and more in a 2013 sit-down with Las Vegas Magazine’s Kiko Miyasato.

When asked where her fans can find her outside of work, White responded, “I’m a pretty simple person. I like nature. I like going on hikes. Bike rides. Walking on the beach. Just real calm things.”

And as for any special talents she posesses, White revealed that she has a passion for crocheting.

“I crochet. The last thing I made was a baby blanket,” she said. “I always do it when I’m in the studio when I’m getting my hair and makeup done, or even behind the puzzle board.”

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Star Turned Her Hobby Into a Successful Business

Given that Vanna White is one of the kindest and most generous celebrity personalities out there, it really isn’t that surprising that she loves to crochet baby blankets. But White capitalized on her favorite hobby when she launched her own personal line of yarn named Vanna’s Choice back in 2007.

“I have my own line of yarn now. It’s called Vanna’s Choice,” White told Miyasato. “I donate half of the proceeds to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It’s very special to me, to be able to give back.”

Vanna’s Choice yarn launched under the umbrella of Lion Brand Yarn. And as White mentioned in the interview, she donates half of the proceeds from her business to the children at St. Jude’s Hospital. In 2019, she said that she has donated more than two million dollars in total.

“Yes, I have donated two million dollars,” White admitted to Paolo Presta on his show, A Spoonful of Paolo. “But it is not just me. It is everybody who uses my yarn. I do donate half of my proceeds and I love it. You know, I have been so fortunate in life that I want to give back.”

Vanna White has a soft spot for children. The Wheel of Fortune star explained as much when asked why she chose St. Jude as the recipient of her donations.

“It was mainly the way St. Jude works,” she noted. “Children with cancer can go in and they won’t have to pay. They will not turn any of these children away with cancer.”
