The hosts and contestants of “Wheel of Fortune” sure do know how to have fun. This has been the case pretty much throughout the popular game show’s decades-long television run.
But, a moment from 2003 really stands out. Let’s just say it was a butt-slapping good time, which is pretty weird for a game show. So, what happened?
Well, based on a clip shared on the show’s official Twitter page, one contestant decided to celebrate solving a puzzle in a pretty unusual way – he slapped Pat Sajak on the butt. It’s a move people who have played sports know all too well. But, it’s not something you usually see on “Wheel of Fortune.”
“You don’t have to slap my butt after every win,” Sajak told the contestant. The contestant, to his credit, attempted to explain why he slapped the host on the butt.
“That was a good game, that was a good game,” the contestant said.
The “Wheel of Fortune” host then jokingly responded, saying: “I mean, if you want to it’s okay. It’s like football players, you know?”
Sajak then gives the contestant a dose of his own medicine. He goes and slaps him on the butt as his says: “Yeah, nice play, baby!”
This doesn’t deter the contestant at all. He plays right along, adding: “Yeah, yeah, good game! Alright!” as he slaps Pat Sajak on the butt again. Needless to say, the look on Sajak’s face after that exchange is pretty hilarious.
The audience explodes with laughter. Then, Sajak slaps the contestant on the butt again. This prompts the contestant to slap one of his competitors on the butt! “Good game,” he exclaims as he does so. It’s a weird, but really funny moment.

Vanna White Joins In on the Fun During 2003 Episode of ‘Wheel of Fortune’
Vanna White had to watch the butt-slapping fun from her post next to the “Wheel of Fortune” board during this 2003 episode. However, when she got her chance to get in on the fun, she took it.
At the end of the show, she and Pat Sajak are standing on the stage alone. And, unsurprisingly, she slaps him on the butt.
“Great show, Pat,” she excitedly says as the audience breaks out into laughter and applause. Sajak laughs, then says, “It is now, I know that.”
This isn’t the first throwback clip to be shared on the “Wheel of Fortune” Twitter account. For example, the show also shared footage of Pat Sajak and Vanna White competing in a ketchup pouring contest.
