It makes perfect sense for Bill Gates to own the most farmland in America. Why? Because everything else he owns is also massive. Let’s not forget that Gates is a billionaire and one of the richest men in the world.

Although he’s not THE richest man in the world anymore, his net worth is nothing to laugh at. He still holds the spot of the fourth wealthiest. Bill Gates has continued to invest in different properties of land. They are also huge with a very hefty price tag.

Bill Gates’ New Massive Estate

Gates sprawling farm covers an unbelievable 14,500 acres of land. So what all does Bill have located on his massive and beautiful land?

Well, unbelievably, the billionaire and his wife have yet to step foot onto the farmland. You read that right, he has over 14,500 acres of farmland nestled in one of the most prestigious communities in Eastern Washington. According to the Tri-City Herald, the immaculate area sits inside Horse Heaven Hills and only cost him $171 million.

Investments in Farmland Across the Country

The Land Report states that the portfolio of land owned by the Gates includes large amounts of land spread throughout 18 states that equal approximately 242,000 acres. Louisiana, Arkansas, and Nebraska are the most popular states that Bill and his wife love.

The amount of land he owns in those three states is nothing to laugh at unless you’re giggling at the insane size of these plots. One is 69,071 acres, another sits on 47,972 acres, and 20,588 acres is also owned by the Gates’ family. Phoenix, Arizona is an investment opportunity for the billionaire. The land he owns in Arizona is 25,750 acres, and it is reportedly being turned into a suburban area.

All of these properties are gigantic, but his home is in Washington. The 14,500-acre plot of land cost a mere $171 million, but it also includes another 1,500 acres, so what a deal!

The land is owned by Cascade Investment out of Seattle. The company also manages Bill Gates’ unbelievable fortune that equals a whopping $132 billion.

What Does Gates Use the Farmland For?

The chief investment officer of Cascade, Michael Larson has given insight into Bill’s amount of farmland. The report says that Gates owns “at least 100,000 acres of farmland in California, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, and other states — or an area seven times bigger than Manhattan.”

Larson didn’t comment on why the land was purchased. However, he and his wife are the creators of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which supports agricultural growth and growing the use of environmental-friendly and sustainable energy to use for agriculture.
