“Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson is preparing for the Super Bowl with this delicious “test meal” prep out on the patio grill. Forget duck, Robertson is cooking up a slab of ribs with all the seasonings.
It certainly looks like a mouth-watering meal to watch football’s biggest game to. After-all, what’s sports without a plate of good home-cooking to keep you company? The “Duck Dynasty” star shared his passion for cooking with his followers on Instagram.
The test appears to be a success. The Robertson family can look forward to more ribs in their near future. Unless the TV star has something else cooking.
Willie Robertson Is a Sports Fan
The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Feb. 7 in what should be an exciting match up. It will be Buccaneers’ quarterback Tom Brady’s 10th appearance in the championship, making him the oldest quarterback to reach the stage. Also, it will be the second time Tampa Bay has reached the championship. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are defending champions coming into this year.
As for Robertson, he’s more of a New Orleans Saints’ fans. But he’s still looking forward to the game. Robertson reps his home state even when he’s on the road as he once told the team’s PR.
“It’s also hard watching the Saints when you are around non-Saints fans,” Robertson said. “I am experiencing that now in Pittsburgh. It’s fun to be back in New Orleans when everybody is on the same page and we all get excited.”
But Robertson is also just a sports fan in general. He loves college football, something he’s been passionate about since his college days himself. Like with football, Robertson roots for Lousiana all the way even if he can appreciate other teams.
“It’s just the ultimate drama and I’m just so caught up in it. Ever since college when the tournament would start on Thursday, I would always skip Thursday and Friday classes just so I could watch it. I even got my wife watching it and of course, we got our brackets everywhere,” Robertson told USA TODAY. “I would miss every pick on my bracket if my team went— just to the Final Four. I’m an LSU fan so it’s been a while so I’d like to see them do good and they got a good team this year so hopefully.”
Phil Robertson Doesn’t Watch NFL
One “Duck Dynasty” star that may not watch the Super Bowl is Willie’s father Phil. Phil Robertson previously revealed that he stopped watching the League due to the early season protests. Teams would take a knee during the national anthem to protest social injustice and racism.
“I told Mrs. Kay I’m not enjoying these games like I used to,” Phil Robertson said. “… I just didn’t feel comfortable watching it.”
Of course, Phil Robertson almost played in the NFL himself. He was a star quarterback back in his college days. But he chose his passion for hunting instead.
“The choice came down to me in the woods hunting ducks or getting in a situation — a lifestyle — whereby large, violent men are paid huge sums of money to do one thing, and that stomps me in the dirt,” Robertson said. “I said, you know, I just think it would be less stressful to go after ducks.”
