The creator of “Yellowstone,” Taylor Sheridan, continues to be hard at work on new and upcoming projects.

He has an upcoming film coming out in May starring Angelina Jolie called “Those Who Wish Me Dead.” He also has four different projects currently in the pre-production phase — “Y:1883,” “Fast,” “Lioness,” and “Mayor of Kingstown.”

Taylor Sheridan Casts New Characters

“Mayor of Kingstown” has started to generate some publicity. Sheridan has started the casting process and has recruited some pretty big names. He has Jeremy Renner in the leading role (known for his character Hawkeye in the Marvel Universe). Sheridan is known for recruiting big film actors into TV roles. He did the same for Kevin Costner on “Yellowstone.”

Now, there have been more names listed for “Mayor of Kingstown.” According to Deadline, Derek Webster has just been cast in a role in the TV series as well. He is known for his role in CBS’ “NCIS: New Orleans.” He has also been in “Lone Star” and “Ray Donovan.”

Webster will play Stevie, a police officer from Kingstown. Hugh Dillon will be playing Kyle McClusky, another police officer in the town. He is the youngest McClusky kid and the brother to Renner’s character. His other well-known roles include “Yellowstone,” “Durham County,” “Flashpoint,” and “Wind River.”

Dianne Wiest (“The Birdcage,” “Hannah and Her Sisters,” “I Care a Lot,” and “Let Them All Talk”) will portray the McClusky family matriarch.

More on ‘Mayor of Kingstown’

The upcoming series from Taylor Sheridan will be airing on the new Paramount+ streaming service. This service has so far announced 60 upcoming TV shows, according to Business Insider. Another highly anticipated one is the “Halo” series, based on the popular video game series, in early 2022.

The show is about a family of power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan. It focuses on the incarceration system, which happens to be the sole thriving industry of the town. Along the way, “Mayor of Kingstown” will be tackling important social issues like racism, corruption, and inequality.

“The series offers a comprehensive look into the brutal prison system where sociopolitical issues run rampant. Prisons are a forgotten world to most of the population and yet represent a microcosm of society as a whole,” Antoine Fuqua, one of the show’s producers, told The Hollywood Reporter.

The characters will balance corruption and money and attempt to find justice and peace in a town that is struggling.

There is no set release date or anything for the “Mayor of Kingstown” series. Jeremy Renner is still working on his Disney+ limited series about his character Hawkeye from the Marvel Universe.
