Warning: ‘Yellowstone’ Season 3 Finale Spoilers Below!

1. Who shot John Dutton?

Arguably the most pressing question after the season finale is: who shot John Dutton (Kevin Costner)? While helping a motorist and her child with a flat tire, a van approaches John. After confirming that he was John Dutton, a van door then flies open and a man open fires at him.

The man shoots John multiple times and then shoots the fleeing female motorist. While Costner’s character did not die on screen, he’s left gasping for breath after taking on close-range gunfire. In a stroke of luck, Dutton’s phone blocks what may have been a fatal shot. He pulls out the device from his breast pocket, showing a bullet pockmark on the phone. However, fans are left to wonder if John will survive.
