‘Yellowstone’ Star Kevin Costner Headlining Texas Music Festival, Willie Nelson Drops Out

by Josh Lanier

The Red Headed Stranger is out and John Dutton is in at the Outlaws & Legends show this year. Organizers announced on Monday that Willie Nelson was pulling out of the show, but Kevin Costner‘s band Modern West would take his place as headliner.

Nelson pulled out of the show because of ongoing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, according to KTAB. Nelson has had issues with his lungs in the past.

“Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Willie Nelson will not be appearing at the O&L festival on March 19th in Abilene, Texas,” a press release said. “This decision is made out of an abundance of caution for the health and well-being of Willie, his band, and crew.”

The rescheduled festival lasts from March 19-20, 2021.

Modern West will headline the opening night. Randy Houser will close out the show on Saturday. According to the news station, other acts performing at the show include Kevin Fowler, Lee Roy Parnell, Jaime Richards, Curtis Grimes, Jerod Medulla, and Della Rose. Costner and Modern West formed in 2007. The band has released four albums.

General admission tickets are available for $54 for the weekend. VIP tickets cost $420. All tickets, passes, and packages purchased for the 2020 event will be honored at the rescheduled 10th Anniversary Festival.

Proceeds from the festival go to support the Ben Richey Boys Ranch & Family Program. The nonprofit child care facility that serves the Big Country area. Since 2013, the festival has raised more than $500,000 for the program.

Kevin Costner Recently Celebrated Birthday

Kevin Costner turned 66 last week. The famous actor celebrated with family. Costner has been a part of numerous memorable movies such as The Bodyguard, to Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, For the Love of the Game, and more recently The Highway Men. He also played the general manager of the Cleveland Browns in Draft Day.

However, perhaps our most favorite Kevin Costner role is that of him playing the patriarch John Dutton in the Paramount series, Yellowstone.

The 66-year-old Costner plays Dutton and is the head of a family that’s lived on a massive Montana ranch for six generations and counting. John works to try and keep the ranch thriving and in the family, but it’s not always easy. He’s faced with adversity. However, this adversity isn’t always from his foes, but sometimes from his children.
