Zac Efron Channels Tom Selleck’s Iconic Stache in ‘Greatest Beer Run Ever’

by Madison Miller

Zac Efron is currently walking around looking like a young Tom Selleck deep into his “Magnum, P.I.” days.

Efron is rocking that thick and bushy mustache for a role in the upcoming drama film “The Greatest Beer Run Ever.” He was also seen on the street wearing a button-up green shirt and a maroon tie, as well as a heavy grey coat over it all.

Zac Efron and Russell Crowe New Project

Zac Efron will be joined by Russell Crowe for the film, which is an adaptation of the book “The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War.” Peter Farrelly will serve as the director. He is best known for directing “Green Book,” which won three Oscars back in 2019.

According to Variety, the story is about John “Chickie” Donohue and is set in 1967. He leaves New York in order to find some of his childhood buddies that are off fighting in Vietnam. All he wants is to kick back a couple of beers with these friends.

The film will premiere on Apple TV Plus and is doing a lot of the shooting over in Thailand.

Recently, the 34-year-old shared a shirtless image of himself enjoying the Thailand beaches on his birthday. “It’s my bday again? I’m gettin old now- thanks for the bday wishes everyone I love you. I am so lucky to be able to be on this amazingly fun ride with you all. This one feels very special as I get to spend it in Thailand, alongside the most talented and kind cast and crew, making a movie that I think will be awesome… couldn’t be a happier moment in my life. Love you all so much,” he wrote on Instagram.

The project is something Tom Selleck would be familiar with as well. He joined the California National Guard in the 160th infantry regiment to fight in the Vietnam War. Selleck served from 1967 to 1973.

Efron and Jessica Alba

In between his filming for the new movie, Zac Efron and Jessica Alba are keeping fans on their toes.

The two acting icons are working on ad campaign that helps promote travel to Dubai. They are doing so by creating a bunch of fake movie trailers. Recently, Efron shared an image behind the scenes and wrote, “the actual moment I fell in love with [Jessica Alba] in Dubai.”

Now, fans are wanting more than anything to see the two team up for a real picture down the line. Romantically, Zac Efron is just joking around, seeing as Alba has been married since 2008.

Efron is incredibly passionate about green and sustainable living in countries outside of the U.S. This is part of the focus for his docu-series “Down to Earth with Zac Efron.” The next season will likely release sometime in 2022.
