Ford F-150 Police Responder Pickup Trucks Hitting the Streets This Fall

Move over criminals, there is a new sheriff in town, and it comes in the shape of a Ford F-150 Truck

That’s right. Starting this fall, these puppies take to the streets, fighting crime one stylish truck at a time. 

The Ford F-150 Police Responder Truck is combining old features with new ones, creating a pursuit-rated pickup. 

According to Fox News, the Ford trucks “can be equipped with conventional keys that can be removed from the vehicle while it’s still running. It will also lock in Park to allow officers to continue to use lights and powered equipment without worrying about anyone making off with their truck.” 

The truck is custom-made for law enforcement. So don’t go falling in love with the car too much if you’re an everyday Joe, like us. 

Inside the cabin, the vehicle greets officers with comfortable but durable, heavy-duty upholstery. The Ford’s will also have “steel intrusion plates on the backs of the front seats that can stop knives and other sharp objects.” 

Features of the Ford Police Responder

In addition, departments can order the Police Responder without a center council to allow room for the instillation of department-specific equipment. The car is able to feature a work surface for officers.   

Furthermore, Ford reports that the aluminum pickup trucks have “a 2,030-pound payload capacity. The vehicle has a standard tow rating of 7,000 pounds that can be increased to 11,200 pounds. It also has a towing package that includes a knob-controlled backup assist feature.”

The Big Three automakers all have their own versions of the police truck. The three company’s include General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and Ford Motor Company. However, the Ford F-150 is the only one on the market that is a pursuit-rated model. 

On Twitter, MotorWeek posted photos of the tricked-out truck. They reported that the Responder has a top speed of nearly 120 mph. The Ford F-150 Police Responder Truck has an “automatic four-wheel-drive with torque-on-demand transfer case, special all-terrain tires, available Police Engine Idle, and OTA updates.”
