Gabby Petito’s Biological Mom and Stepmom Join Together for Photo at Grand Teton National Park

The two moms of the late Gabby Petito posed for a Grand Teton National Park photo during their visit to see their daughter’s remains.

Joseph Petito reposted the photo of mother Nichole Schmidt and stepmom Tara Petito.

The two moms wear dark sunglasses and woolen caps with temperatures in the 40s.

Social media commenters also Tweeted their support for the family in their travel and grieving period.

The family went to Wyoming to recover Gabby Petito’s body and bring it home to New York. The travel came after the coroner announced the woman died by “manual strangulation.”

The foursome appeared together for an October taping of the Dr. Phil McGraw show. In roughly 30 minutes, the parents talked about early suspicions of the woman’s death, text messages with boyfriend Brian Laundrie’s parents, and the boyfriend’s whereabouts.

The couples have teamed up through this difficult period.

According to NBC New York, Petito’s mom and stepdad visited a memorial for their daughter in Blue Point, N.Y. after the autopsy results were made public. However, the Gabby Petito family did not talk to the press at the time.

However, mother Nichole Schmidt texted a reporter a comment on the Laundrie family attorney’s statement.

She said Bertolino’s words are “garbage” in response to his statement.

Over 12,000 people liked the photo, with many people further giving support through comments and sharing their family stories and mourning moments.

Gabby Petito’s Body Recovered

Searchers found Gabby Petito’s body on Sept. 19 at the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area in Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue determined on Oct. 5 that Gabby Petito died of strangulation. The coroner did not release the full results until this past Tuesday in a press conference.

Blue also said the family sent the body to Valley Mortuary in Jackson, Wyo., for cremation services.

Laundrie, the woman’s missing fiancé/boyfriend, is a person of interest in the Petito case. Steven Bertolino, an attorney for Laundrie’s family, repeated that Laundrie is not a suspect in Petito’s disappearance or death this week.

Gabby Petito family members have gone on the CBS news show “60 Minutes” for an upcoming episode. Nichole Schmidt reportedly had words for the Laundrie family.

“They know most of the information,” Schmidt said. “I don’t know why they’re doing this to us. I feel like we need to just know… Their actions don’t show that their son is missing. It shows that they’re just comfortable. They probably know where he is.”

Joseph Petito also said if the Laundries know something and are keeping that information from the family and authorities, they’re cruel.
