Gabby Petito Body Identified: FBI Confirms Manner of Death is Homicide in Statement

by Joe Rutland

The FBI confirms that the body of Gabby Petito was found and their initial cause of death is homicide. The release came on Tuesday at around 4 p.m. CT.

Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue says that it is Petito whose body was found in Grand Teton National Park, in a release. The announcement came out of the FBI office in Denver.

The cause of death remains unknown as the family of Gabby Petito awaits final autopsy results.

“The FBI’s commitment to justice is at the forefront of each and every investigation,” FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider said.

In their announcement, Schneider said the FBI and its partners “remain dedicated” to make sure they find justice. Whoever is responsible for her death will be held accountable, the FBI says.

“Mr. Brian Laundrie has been named a person of interest,” the release also adds. “Anyone with information concerning Mr. Laundrie’s role in this matter or of his current whereabouts should contact the FBI.”

Gabby Petito Case Still Has Brian Laundrie as ‘Person Of Interest’ At This Time

Laundrie remains a “person of interest” in the case. Both the FBI and local agencies are currently collecting evidence. Laundrie, however, is still not a “suspect” publicly.

Officials believed that a body found on Sunday outside Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park is that of Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito.

The family of Gabby Petito issued a statement on Sept. 11, declaring her missing. Her actual disappearance, however, is likely to have occurred in late August.

Florida police looked into a possible trail cam sighting of Gabby Petito’s fiancé, Brian Laundrie, in the state. However, it yielded no leads or evidence. Sightings are also connected to Alabama. None of those have yielded results at the time of writing.

Meanwhile, at around noon CT on Tuesday, Florida authorities are sharing trail cam images from the state.

Father of Brian Laundrie Appears In Public For First Time Since Reporting Son Missing

Laundrie’s father is spotted for the first time since he reported his son missing. This is according to video footage obtained by Fox News. Laundrie’s father enters his home, as the video shows. It is one place authorities did search since both Petito and Brian Laundrie as well disappeared.

Per CNN, Brian Laundrie returned to his parent’s home in Florida on Sept. 1st with their van but without Gabby. Petito and Laundrie were on a trip together, touring around the United States in a van, posting about their adventures online.

Around that same time, Petito and her mother exchanged a series of concerning text messages that implied her relationship with Laundrie was taking a turn for the worse.

Outsider will have more details to come.
