FBI Asks Public for Info on Brian Laundrie After Ruling Gabby Petito’s Death a Homicide

The FBI is asking the public for information on Brian Laundrie after ruling Gabby Petito’s death a homicide. Laundrie and Petito, who was his fiance, went on a cross-country trip together in their van before Laundrie returned without her.

CNN reports that Laundrie returned home without Gabby Petito on September 1st, and her family reported her missing on September 11th. Laundrie refused to speak to authorities, and then his own family reported him missing on September 14th. Now, a manhunt is underway to find Laundrie.

“Anyone with information concerning Mr. Laundrie’s role in this matter or his current whereabouts should contact the FBI,” Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider said in a statement according to CNN.

The North Port Police tweeted out that they are also looking for information related to the person of interest in the Gabby Petito case.

“Search of the Carlton & nearby lands concluded for the evening. Nothing of note. The current plan is to return Wednesday with a similar operation. We join the FBI in asking for continued public assistance by sharing any info 1-800-CALL FBI or tips.fbi.gov,” The North Port Police tweeted.

Laundrie’s Parent’s Reported Him Missing on the 14th

Both the FBI and the North Port police are asking for any information on the potential whereabouts of Brian Laundrie. According to CNN, Laundrie’s parents said that he left their home in North Port, Florida with a backpack. He headed to the T. Mabry Carlton Jr. Memorial Reserve relatively nearby.

The news outlet also reports that the search has concluded for the evening, but will resume tomorrow morning. Authorities searched the family home as well. On Monday, they retrieved multiple boxes from inside and towed away a Ford Mustang Convertible potentially linked to the Gabby Petito case.

Laundrie was allegedly seen slapping Gabby Petito repeatedly in mid-august, shortly before Petito stopped posting on social media. A witness made a 911 call about the event and bodycam footage from the officers who responded has gone viral.

Gabby Petito’s Death Ruled A Homicide

Earlier today, the FBI revealed that a body they found in Wyoming is indeed Gabby Petito’s. Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue also noted that he has ruled the death a homicide, but the cause of death remains pending awaiting the final autopsy results. Gabby Petito was a 22-year-old adventurer and blogger.

The FBI is also looking for any information from people who were near the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area in Wyoming and potentially saw something. The two would have been there from August 27th-30th.

“The forensic search has concluded of the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area and law enforcement has released the area. The FBI is seeking information from anyone who utilized the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area between the dates of August 27-30, 2021, who may have had contact with Ms. Petito or Mr. Laundrie or who may have seen their vehicle,” the FBI released in a statement to the public.

Gabby Petito’s family is taking some time to Grieve before making any statements.
