Newnan Police Department Chief, Brent Blankenship revealed to Fox News that he and his department have not had an official sighting of Gabby Petito’s fiance within the City of Newnan.
The reported sighting in Newnan, Georgia comes just hours after a Florida man claims he saw Gabby Petito’s fiance driving in a white pick-up truck in Tennessee near the North Carolina border. Dennis Davis, the man who allegedly had an encounter with Laundrie, told Fox News there is no doubt about him seeing the missing 23-year-old man.
“That was Brian Laundrie I was just talking to,” Davis said. “100%. Not a doubt in my mind.”
Davis then recalled pulling up alongside the white truck and having a discussion with who he believes is Gabby Petito’s missing fiance. “I could tell right away that something wasn’t right with him.”
Davis then said he immediately thought the driver was just on drugs. But after thinking about it, he said the driver looked “mentally shot” but didn’t “look dirty” at all. The driver revealed to Davis that he and his girlfriend had a fight. “[He said] man, I love her. And she called me. And I need to go out to California to find her.”
Davis told the driver to take 1-40 West. The driver decided he would rather stay on Waterville Road by the Pigeon River. “He said, ‘No, I think this road that we’re on – I’m going to take it to California.’”
David called the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina and shared his experience. The sheriff’s office reported it has received about 10 more sightings and calls between Saturday and Sunday.
