The search for Brian Laundrie continues, eight days after departing for his hike. More than a week later, investigators believe there exists a good chance the 23-year-old lied about hiking in Carlton Reserve. After departing for his hike on September 14th and his parents reporting him missing on September 17th, law enforcement stated Laundrie could be anywhere in the country by now.

In reference to the theory, the executive director of the National Association for Search and Rescue, Chris Boyer, said, “People that are trying not to get caught for something sometimes use people, right?” He continued, stating, “So he may have told his parents that’s where he’s going.”

Now, authorities remain roadblocked by Laundrie’s parents’ continued relative silence. However, the Laundries nevertheless may have been kept in the dark as to their son’s actual whereabouts. Conclusively, Boyer added, that while the information might be false, “[Laundrie’s parents] may be telling the authorities that in all honesty, but he lied to them.”

Although, while nevertheless possible, Laundrie’s parents three-day delay in reporting their son missing means search efforts become even further complicated. Those long 72 hours would have enabled Laundrie to disappear anywhere in the country at this point. In total, he’s been missing for eight days, putting greater distance between himself and investigators.

“He may not even be in Florida,” Boyer said. “He’s had eight days to be on the run right now. He could be almost anywhere.”

Brian Laundrie’s Neighbors Urge Him to Turn Himself In

Laundrie’s disappearance has attracted national attention. Authorities now urge Americans throughout the country to keep their eyes peeled for any potential sightings of the missing man. Further, media coverage remains centered around the Laundrie household and North Port, Florida overall. In response, neighbors have begun voicing their thoughts on the young man’s disappearance.

Brian Laundrie’s sudden return home in early September sans-Gabby and his following disappearance have raised suspicions overall. However, the location of Gabby Petito‘s body in Teton-Bridger National Forest Sunday has further heightened theories that Laundrie is somehow connected to the young woman’s death.

As the investigation has ensured, friends, neighbors, and witnesses continue to come forward with any potential leads they may have. As the hunt for Laundrie has become, seemingly, national, law enforcement has begun to investigate even the smallest of leads.

One of the Laundries’ neighbors, Gary Coble, resides in the midst of the chaos ensuing within his community. Police, media, and FBI agents continue to pursue the ongoing investigation there. With such a large manhunt in place, Coble shared with Laundrie, via media, “Turn yourself in. They’re hunting. They’ll find ya.”

And hopefully, that’s true. So many unanswered questions about Gabby’s disappearance and preceding demise tie back to Laundrie. It’s important investigators discover what took place between the last time Petito’s mother heard from her on August 24th and her subsequent autopsy earlier this week.
