A tragic scene unfolded over the weekend in Gwandalan, Australia and a now-deceased dad is being hailed a hero.
Peter Flinch, a father of two youngsters, saved his son’s life by giving his own in a deadly kayaking incident. Flinch was able to save his son’s life but he paid the ultimate price as resuscitation attempts at the scene were unsuccessful.
According to reports, the kayak carrying Flinch and also his 4-year-old son capsized as the two floated along the river. Unable to keep his footing, the hero dad lifted his young above the water and tried to tread water. Both Flinch and his son were pulled from the water as onlookers rushed the scene in an effort to help the struggling duo. They were able to bring the two on shore and resuscitation attempts began immediately and emergency services were contacted.
Arriving at the scene of the incident, paramedics tried to save Peter Flinch’s life but they were unsuccessful. He died at the scene early Friday evening. Flinch is now rightfully being remembered as a hero for his selfless acts in saving his son.
Flinch leaves behind two young children and a partner, Natalie, of 17 years. Thanks to his heroic actions, the family will continue forward. In an emotional social media post, Natalie Flinch calls her husband a hero and wonders how she will go on without him. Friends and other members of the Flinch family also paid tribute to the hero dad.
