Herschel Walker Calls Military Members ‘True Heroes’ in Veterans Day Message

On Wednesday, former Dallas Cowboys running back Herschel Walker took to Twitter to honor American military men and women who have served our country in a Veterans Day post.

The former NFL great shared two photos of himself interacting with military personnel from visits in the past. The first photo is of Walker mingling with troops in a meeting room. In fact, a sign in the room says Landstuhl, so we can assume he visited Landstuhl, Germany. Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) is an overseas military hospital operated by the United States Army. In addition, it is the largest US military hospital outside the continental United States.

Next, the former Georgia Bulldogs running back shared a picture of himself with members of the US Air Force’s Air Mobility Command. Walker is leading the group in a round of pushups with a huge aircraft in the background.

“Let’s always remember our great men and women of service not just on Veteran’s Day but always. They are the true Heroes. #FreedomisnotFree,” Walker wrote in the tweet.

Walker Shares Message of Support for the Military During Lockdowns

Earlier this month, Walker shared his support of the military in a different way. He shared a video to his Twitter account where he shared some thoughts on COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. The NFL great says citizens shouldn’t leave our first responders and military men and women “out there alone.”

“Hey, I was just putting things together and I started to think about Joe Biden talking about lockdowns,” Walker said. If we’re locked down, we leave our first responders, we leave our military out there to fend for us while we’re hiding away somewhere scared of the big bad boogie man, this virus they keep talking about. And I said no, no, no we can’t do that. We can’t leave our people out there alone.”

The Heisman Trophy winner doubled down on his thoughts. He said Americans should be out fighting against COVID-19 and Biden’s possible lockdowns. However, he mentions that a vaccine is on the way and that people should get ready for it.

“Being Americans, we need to fight this big bad boogie man that Joe Biden keeps talking about: this virus. So let’s not leave them out there. Let’s get out there and fight, and we don’t want no lockdown,” Walker explains. “We want to be out there and fight with our first responders and our military cause no one knows this virus. Look at the other countries. But let me tell you what. There’s medicine and there’s a vaccine coming. So get ready.”
