Whether you’ve received a physical IRS stimulus check or not yet, you may be surprised to learn you’ll be getting a letter from President Joe Biden along with it.

For some, the most notable aspect about this is that it’s similar to what 45th President of the United States Donald Trump included with the COVID-19 relief payments sent out by his administration. The physical checks sent out featured a signature on them from Trump.

Biden has elected not to include a signature on the IRS stimulus check, but is instead adding a letter instead. Per CNN, the letter reads:

“My fellow American, On March 11, 2021, I signed into law the American Rescue Plan,” Biden’s letter includes. “A law that will help vaccinate America and deliver immediate economic relief to hundreds of millions of Americans, including you,’ Biden writes in a single-page letter distributed by the IRS to those getting the payments.”

Another quote of note from the letter mentions the “promise” Biden made to the U.S.

“This fulfills a promise I made to you, and will help get millions of Americans through this crisis,” Biden wrote.

IRS Stimulus Checks Don’t Feature Biden’s name

Back in March, the White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, spoke for Biden. She was asked about Biden electing to not sign his name on the checks. While Psaki didn’t make any overt comments, she explained why Biden’s name didn’t feature.

“Well, we are doing everything in our power to expedite the payments and not delay them,” Psaki added. “Which is why the president’s name will not appear on the memo line of this round of stimulus checks. This is not about him. This is about the American people getting relief.”

However, at the time, the idea of a letter being sent to Americans was not announced. Psaki added one further bit of detail on the decision.

“He did not think that was a priority or a necessary step,” Psaki also said.
